  • Amrita TV Re-discovers A Continent

Submitted by ITV Production on May 23

MUMBAI: Hello Americas, Amrita TV?s new travelogue, that incorporates some elements of the lifestyle show, chronicles the travels of the crew as they globe-trot across the breadth of the American Continent; telecast every Sunday at 8.30 pm, it weaves together colorful individual strands - of sights seen, stories heard, realities understood - picked along the way, to create a complete pattern of the American way of life .

The team started out on their exploratory expedition on a blistering cold day in early January to record the Winter Edition of Hello Americas. It was an America muffled to the ears in snow, with the barometer hovering around a bone-numbing cold ? 30 degrees.

The crew captured scenes and sights along the route ? of Ice Fishing, snowmobiling, what it feels to be inside an igloo - wending their way from coast to coast ? from New York the Global City, melting pot of all the Nationalities of the world; the City of Columbia in California where Cowboy towns are still preserved in their pristine state, as it was 150 years ago ; Detroit, synonym of the American Automobile Industry ; Los Angeles, the home base of Hollywood, the world?s most thickly populated celebrity neighborhood; the Golden Gym on the ?Muscle Beach? stretch of Venice Beach where Arnold Schwarzenegger, the film icon comes for his work out .

They halted every now and then to have first hand encounters with the citizens both American and Indian American , that threw up surprising insights of the Other Side of The United States ? of rock solid family ties that rival those of the East; of sacrifices undertaken by a devoted wife who moved to successive smaller and smaller homes to put her husband through Medical school ; of the Central Kitchen that feeds over 5000 homeless poor a day in Washington D.C, the Capital of the richest nation in the world.

During the course of their travel, Amrita TV saw an America that bore little similarity to the one portrayed in the slick soap operas and the blockbusters of Hollywood, which focuses only the world of the rich and the glamorous and of life in the fast lane. Hello Americas presents glimpses of a different America - one built on principled value systems and strong familial bonds that revealed the warm, inner, real self throbbing beneath the surface glitter and glitz.

A montage of diverse, unconnected images of ways, traditions and customs which splice themselves together to form a complete film of the American life and culture, Hello Americas is in effect a journey of re-discovery of a continent .

  • CNBC AWAAZ to bring out first 100 days agenda of the new government

Submitted by ITV Production on May 22

MUMBAI: The 2009 general elections turned out to be one of the most fiercely fought battles between the Congress led UPA and BPJ led NDA. Citizens of India have ruled it in favour of the UPA giving it a second chance to run the show for India. The recent market upsurge and an overall environment currently prevailing in the country is a reflection of the welcome of the UPA. Now, as India expects a more stable coalition, CNBC AWAAZ brings out the agenda with which the UPA will embark on their second innings.

It is a fresh start for the new government at helm and CNBC AWAAZ, India?s No. 1 Business Channel has taken the initiative to highlight the issues facing the country and measure the administration?s performance through its programming platform ?100 DAYS - SARKAR KA AGENDA?. As a part of this series, CNBC AWAAZ will highlight the agenda that lies in front of the new Government during its first 100 days and also take periodic stock of whether the Government is able to achieve everything that is enlisted in the said agenda. The series will feature a jury of eminent experts explaining the finer aspects of the agenda and how the said policies would impact the political scenario. The jury will rate the new government on the steps taken by them to fulfil the first 100 Days? agenda. With a view to edify the citizens, CNBC AWAAZ will run a scoreboard displaying the score for 100 Days to continuously reflect the performance of the government.

Speaking on the special series, Mr. Sanjay Pugalia, Editor-in-chief, CNBC AWAAZ, said, ?100 Days ? Sarkar Ka Agenda is a series of special programming, to bring forward the economic, fiscal, social and other relevant issues in India and how the government could shape their first 100 days after formation. CNBC AWAAZ will analyze, evaluate and rate the new government?s initiatives which will help ease the said issues and give a head start to their tenure.?

Mr. Neel Chowdhury, Vice President, Marketing, CNBC-TV 18 and CNBC AWAAZ said, ?100 Days - Sarkar ka Agenda is a special programming series that aims at making the government answerable to the voters who handed them the power. This initiative will help the viewers examine the administration?s performance on quantifiable parameters.?

For any administration, first 100 days in office are nothing short of an acid test. The common manifesto brought out by the coalition government will try its best to tackle issues at hand viz. poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, corruption, economic disparities and most importantly the volatile fiscal situation. This would mean some tough decisions to be taken by the administrators.

The most important task facing the government is to decipher what is the change that India needs. Everyone is wondering what the new Government will bring to the table to be able to fulfil its promises in the wake of the current global scenario. 100 DAYS - SARKAR KA AGENDA is devised to bring out just that.

?100 DAYS - SARKAR KA AGENDA? will be telecast on CNBC AWAAZ from May 22, 2009 - 8pm onwards and will include:

Sarkar Ka Agenda - First 100 Days: An half hour panel discussion involving eminent experts representing the industries, Tax payers, Consumers, Investors & Students / jobseekers, chalking out what exactly would be the new Government‘s agenda be for its first 100 days in office.

This special programming on CNBC AWAAZ is another step by the channel to make the functioning of the government more transparent.
