  • Salman on Fire!!

Submitted by ITV Production on Mar 27

MUMBAI: The traditions of Indian dance and dance dramas are among the most perplexingly complex and varied theatrical cultures in the world. Salman Ghouse, touted to be one of the strongest Lux Dance India Dance contender to win the crown paid a tribute to this dying form of art called Chau, practiced primarily in remote parts of West Bengal, Jharkhand and Orissa. And not only did he live up to the expectations of his mentor Remo but also did justice to the incredible stunts which almost cost him his life. Salman almost burnt himself in the process!!

It took over two hours for Salman to get dressed in the costume which consisted of fire proofing him against the flames that were to be ignited on him. There were a total of 5 layers of cloth and insulating material to save him from any injury or mishap. The face is also framed by a mask that leaves little scope for the person behind the mask to see in front. This was his second handicap. Salman had, previously injured himself during rehearsals but that did not deter him from the main performance. Currently, Salman is recuperating in Jaslok Hospital where he was admitted for 2nd degree burns.

To witness this form for which Salman almost lost his life catch Zee TV?s Dance India Dance on Saturday, 28th March?09

Also, a word about Mentor Remo whose movie based on this dying form of art, starring Mithun Da has earned him the laurel of being the Best Director in OSIAN Film Festival.

Sunehri Taqdeer ki topi milegi kis taqdeer wale ko?

True to its repute, Zee TV has once again done it differently. When the channel announced the ?Sunehri taqdeer ki topi? everyone was curious to catch a glimpse of the said object. But their curiosity was met with disappointment when the topi turned out to be a feathered black hat!

Well, the wait is finally over!! This week, the audience will get to see the unveiling of the gold taqdeer ki topi embellished with heavy jewels and diamonds and costing a whopping Rs15 lacs.

Needless to mention, the revelation of the topi has set tongues wagging amongst the contestants and raised the level of competition manifold. They are just dying to lay their hands on it. Now the stakes are upped? it?s not only a 50 lac contract and a bollywood movie but also a diamond studded sunehri Taqdeer ki topi worth 15 lacs!

The Dancing Stars meets the Rising star

The makers of Dance India Dance were proud when the man who exemplified dance, and is also known as the Michael Jackson of India expressed his desire to be a part of the dance show. Prabhu Deva himself came on the sets of the show in an episode that will be telecast this Friday, 27th March on Zee TV.

Prabhu, who came down from Channei specially for the shoot, burned the Dance floor on one of his most unusual choreography, ?main aisa kyun hoon? from the movie Lakshya. Not only this, he and Mithun Da simply enthralled the audience on their jig on the Tamil version of Disco Dancer which Prabhu had choreographed when the movie was made in Tamil.

Prince Gupta, famously touted as the Prince of Popping and Locking dedicated his number to the Dance God Prabhu Deva and needless to say, Prabhu was completely bowled over.

It?s a lesser known fact that before Prabhudeva became the much sought after choreographer and now a famous Director, he was a background dancer. Quite like our Siddhesh Pai from Mumbai. prabhu recounted the number of times he had woken up from his sleep and practiced dance steps in the middle of the night to keep himself from forgetting them!!

Neil Nitin Mukesh, the Rising star of Bollywood was no far behind. Apart from taking the mantle of the anchor for a while, the handsome hunk impressed the audience and the participants on his impromptu singing and dancing on ? aa dekhen zara?? his latest flick.

  • Threatened Tiger ready to strike back live on Ten Sports

Submitted by ITV Production on Mar 26

MUMBAI: Ten Sports, the most watched sports channel in the Sub-continent, will telecast live a completely new challenge faced by World No1 Tiger Woods when he tries to defend his title at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

The Arnold Palmer Invitational, hosted by ?The King? himself, is one of the most respected events on the PGA Tour, and played annually at the demanding Bay Hill Club & Lodge course in Orlando, Florida.

The tournament, which offers a total purse of $6 million, also features Indian superstar Jeev Milkha Singh, who recently finished fourth in the World Golf Championship?s CA Championship. Live telecast on Ten Sports starts 12:30 am IST on Friday, March 27.

Woods won last year in dramatic fashion by one stroke over Brad Bryant, but only after he drained an impossible-looking 24-footer putt for birdie on the final hole.

But the five-time winner of the tournament ? Woods has never missed playing the Arnold Palmer Invitational as a professional ? goes into the third tournament after his comeback from an eight-month injury layoff with the crown of being the best golfer in the world at stake.

Woods has been No1 in the world for 198 consecutive weeks, but the eight months away from the game after reconstructive knee surgery are taking a toll and the chasing groups has almost eaten into the lead, which looked insurmountable last year.

No2 Phil Mickelson trails Woods by 0.2 points in the rankings (8.86 to 8.66), and can become the new No1 if he wins next week?s Shell Houston Open and Woods fails to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Mickelson, who has never been No1, is off this week.

Also of interest is the return of three-time Major championship winner Padraig Harrington, who is playing in Bay Hill for the first time since missing the cut in 2000. After a slow start to his 2009 season on the PGA Tour (two missed cuts and a first-round loss at the Accenture Match Play), he is looking to gain momentum as the Masters nears.

Jeev is looking forward to another good finish before the Masters, which starts April 9, in an attempt to win enough money from the limited number of starts he has on the PGA Tour which can help him secure his US card for 2009.

?My confidence is up and I hope to play well in Arnold Palmer?s tournament. I played here in 2007, but it was a forgettable outing and I missed the cut. I aim to do much better than that this week,? said the Indian star.

  • Bipasha Basu on B4u Star Stop

Submitted by ITV Production on Mar 26

MUMBAI: The dusky and sultry siren of Bollywood, Bipasha Basu needs no introduction. An extremely fit woman, with an agile mind, and no qualms of her relationship being known to all, she is the true essence of the millennium woman. B4U VJ Salil has a tete a tete with this talented actress on Star Stop a show on B4UMusic.

Stars talk about their personal review of the film and share their anecdotes of their experiences during the making of the film.

The importance to look good and feel fit and connect to the youth is her USP. However she states she doesn?t look perfect all the time when she is not shooting she is normally in a ponytail, tracks and Tshirts . A sincere worker and dedicated to her profession ,she values the huge money involved in film making as well as hard earned money of the audiences who watch her films. A very valuable trait in a star of her stature!

Her take on roles where her male costars are younger than her, she is least perturbed She is of the opinion that good work replaces all those presumptions and cities Bachna Ae Haseeno where her pairing with Ranbir Kapoor was a complete hit despite the age gap.

Her forthcoming film Aa Dekhen Zara where she is paired opposite Neil Nitin Mukesh did make her feel that he looked really like a young boy. However all her fears were put to rest when she saw him on screen as she felt that he has great screen presence and magnifies it to such an extent that it overshadows any other trivialities. She is appreciative and modest and realistic.

Attempting deglamorised roles like Apharan and Corporate is the urge of an artist to try offbeat cinema which she feels is essential. She has tried all sorts of roles and genres and has 50 films to her credit. A very versatile artist and yet is an integral part of commercial cinema. This actress is playing the love interest of all heroes from 20 to 40, a privilege only male actors have in the industry. A rare feat to achieve!

To watch this vivacious and intelligent actress speak her mind tune in to Star stop at 19.10 hrs on 27th March on B4u Music.
