  • Sabitri -satyaban celebration Hubby-ho

Submitted by ITV Production on Jun 07

MUMBAI: True to the lineage, Indian women continue with their tradition of praying for their husbands?. Even in the age of firebrand feminism and gender equality, marriage still symbolizes security for thousands of women in free but conservative society, the same goes for our very own Oriya ladies.

This is an important Oriya celebration; the ladies of Orissa celebrate it pompously with great emotion. This festival marks the true love understanding and bonding between husband and wife. Sabitri was a legendary wife who by the dint of her devotion to husband could win back her husband from the clutches of lord Yama the god of death. Thus on amavasya day this Sabitri osa is celebrated.

We at Radio Choklate being Odisha‘s Apna No 1 channel naturally could not afford to miss out this great occasion. As the ladies observe fast for the long life of their husband Radio Choklate sends fruit hampers with sindoor alta bangles and new sarees, called "BHAARA" to well-known married ladies who have served and bought good name to Orissa, as a mark of respect to them and also those ladies who are in slum areas, having no fund to celebrate this puja.

To mark this occasion, we even had on AIR celebrations; A message contest was organized by us and sponsored by BOMBAY DYEING where the best message through SMS to our station by a wife to her husband and vice-versa would be selected for attractive prizes. Our jockeys live on AIR enacted some short skits depicting various moods of relationship between husband and wife, which was a big hit.

On Sabitri day Choklate jockeys went to different temples of twin city as well as even to Jajpur for live coverage especially the famous BIRAJA MANDIR of Orissa where women folk throng to offer prayers on this auspicious occasion. This was basically an attempt by radio Choklate to revive the love between husband and wife, which usually takes a back seat in this mundane day-to-day life.

We got a great response as couples being married for as long as 20 yrs responded and participated and thanked us for bringing them even closer to their husband, many who had not been able to communicate their feelings of love could do so with Radio Choklate. This was indeed a touching experience for the team of Radio Choklate.

A MEGA EVENT in the form of a gala prize distribution ceremony brought down the final curtain to this grand celebration. The idea behind this event was to thank the listeners who had participated, felicitate the winners, and encourage the listeners who had not won to participate with more fervor for our coming events. Our sponsors who are close to our hearts without whose support this programme could not have been successful were also felicitated by our honorable M.D Eastern Media Ltd.

A small cultural programme was organized by our energetic joshila team of RJ S‘ based on Modern day SABITRI and SATYABAN along with an AIDS awareness campaign presented by way of a stage play.

"All‘s well that ends well." Seemed just the right slogan for team radio choklate at the conclusion of sabitri satyaban mahautsav.

  • MiD DAY Launches a New Distribution Channel

Submitted by ITV Production on Jun 06

MUMBAI: Starting today, MiD DAY introduces an all new distribution system to ensure India‘s leading afternooner is even more easily accessible to its target audience of Young Urban Mobile Professionals across India (YUMPI) by setting up vending machines in corporate offices and buildings across Mumbai, Delhi & Bangalore. This further strengthens & enforces MiD DAY‘s commitment to Engaging with the YUMPI.

The distribution system will include a combination of exclusive MiD DAY vending machines and those that are owned by Grabit, which will have a shelf for MiD DAY and also dispense snacks etc.

Machines have already been placed at offices such as 3G, I Flex, Infosys, IL&FS , Network 18, GE Capital Services, Erricsson India Pvt. Ltd, Reuters, Deutsche Bank and in corporate complexes such as Peninsula Corporate Park.

The impetus for the move comes from MiD DAY‘s strategy of engaging urban professionals within the space of their working day. In today‘s urban scenario where time is a scarce commodity, and there are multiple media vehicles and messages competing for people‘s attention, MiD DAY‘s focus has been on offering real value to both marketers and readers and being able to assess its efficacy on these parameters.

MiD DAY‘s strategic advantage of being the only major English Daily available during the afternoon hours, a space which, barring the internet and mobile, is a virgin area for media reaching executives in their offices, helps the brand in its focus on the YUMPI more fully. By adding a distribution channel that reaches directly into the audience‘s offices, MiD DAY hopes to further strengthen reader loyalty and engagement in this segment.

MiD DAY firmly believes that the YUMPI today is the most attractive audience for any advertiser, be it automobiles, FMCG, services, consumer durables, real estate, etc. A look at the YUMPI lifestyle however makes it apparent that this is a group that is very difficult to engage. As a group deprived of time and bombarded with multiple messages and media, advertising messages are more likely to be a ‘ship in the darkness‘ versus the desired ‘apple of the eye‘.

To encourage audience engagement, and create value for advertisers in the process, MiD DAY has introduced audience-relevant sections in the afternooner such as What‘s On, Fun@Work and Life@Work that provide the reader with a glimpse of how YUMPIs can make a day at work enjoyable and are in line with MiD DAY‘s mission of Making Work Fun. Sections such as Zing! are his guide to Style@Work while Hot Property guides him plan his house-hunting weekends, while Big Break gives the YUMPI opportunities for great career moves, overall adding value to his reading experience.

Says Abhijit Pradhan, Director Sales and Marketing, MiD DAY Multimedia, "MiD DAY‘s effort is to fully engage the YUMPI through content and brand experience, through below-the-line activations, constant innovations and ideas. We are looking to create value for readers and advertisers through content, experience and delivery."

"The introduction of vending machines helps us to further solidify our reach within offices during the afternoon hours, which are typically the time YUMPI‘s would take a break," he adds

MiD DAY is available in Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi. Launching soon in Pune.

  • Inside Bollywood with Destiny's Child Sanjay Dutt

Submitted by ITV Production on Jun 05

MUMBAI: "When everybody walks out, he is the one man who will walk in." That‘s what Manyata Dutt has to say about her husband Sanjay Dutt, on the only show that takes you behind the glamour and into the star‘s real life - Inside Bollywood with Rohit Roy. Both larger-than-life stars share TV screen space this Sunday, June 8, at 8:00 pm, only on Zoom, India‘s premier glamour and entertainment channel.

Sanjay speaks about moments both happy and sad. Referring to his much-publicised addiction to drugs in his youth, he recalls a time when he asked his cook to serve him something, saying he was hungry. Apparently, the cook burst into tears, telling Sanjay that the latter hadn‘t eaten in two days. He hadn‘t felt a thing. "There is nothing cool about taking drugs," says Sanjay, a true survivor who finally kicked his deadly habit. He also recalls the many hardships he has faced, and speaks about his rock solid family who always stood by him. "I am lucky to have sisters like Priya and Namrata," he says. "The only people I miss are mum and dad."

Suniel Shetty also speaks of his old friend‘s helpful nature and his not-so-publicised social work. He defines Sanjay as a man with a heart of gold, and mentions difficult times when the former supported him.

The episode also takes a closer look at Dutt‘s career - now spanning more than three decades - from hits like Vaastav, Munnabhai MBBS and Shootout at Lokhandwala, to failures like Shabd, Tango Charlie and Deewar. Speaking about his transformation from deadly Dutt to lovable Munnabhai, Sanjay agrees that the film played a significant role in his life, while creating a revolution of sorts across the country. He also speaks about the upcoming Munnabhai Chale Amrica, his fitness regimen and more.
