  • News 24 marks the anniversary of the revolt of 1857

    MUMBAI: The nation is commemorating the Revolt of 1857. Perceived as the first war of Independence in India, the revolt brought alive the burning angst of our compatriots against injustice, saw our countrymen fight against a mighty empire and marked the beginning of a new India.

    Commemorating this occasion, News 24- the fastest growing Hindi News channel, featured an hour long programme titled ‘Zara Yaad Karo Qurbani‘. The mood and celebration in the places the revolt actually took place in including Meerut, Jhansi, Gwalior, the Red Fort in Delhi and others were captured live in the programme. The programme showcased how some Indian rulers with their limited resources took on a mighty empire. The extraordinary courage and valor of the Indian sepoy Mangal Pandey, and rulers like Rani Laxmi Bai, Tantia Tope, Nana Sahib and others was highlighted in the programme. Noted singer Kailash Kher sang patriotic songs in celebration of the day and was joined by Raja Hassan and Molly Dave in this unique feature that was played from 6 pm to 7 pm today on News 24.

    MUMBAI: The contestants of Clinic All Clear Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar salute the spirit of motherhood by singing their favourite songs for them in the Mothers Day special episode of the show to be aired on Saturday. Mothers Day is celebrated worldwide on May 11.

    In a very emotional episode, that brought even anchor Mandira Bedi and judge Farah Khan to tears, the contestants recount special stories about their relationships with their mothers. Ishmeet?s mother surprises him by visiting the shoot while he performs ?masha-allah? from Sawariya. On the other hand, Vineet and Harshit?s mothers pack their wishes and blessings for their kids with special gifts all the way from their hometown, Lucknow.

    While the Champions dote on their mothers and dedicate their performances to them, Debojeet made up for his mothers absence from his life by inviting four elderly women from an old age home close to his heart while dedicating his performance on ?Mere Naina Sawan Bhado? to his late mother.

    On hearing the Champions recount touching tales about their childhood experiences with their mothers, Farah Khan could not be left far behind as she shares her experiences with her mother and relieves the joy of motherhood and bringing up her triplets.

    Lifting the spirits after six emotional performances, Harshit entertained everyone with a perfect rendition of the song Ek Hasina Thi from Kaarz and bagged top scores for the fourth consecutive time.

  • WWE Superstar The Great Khali Meets Children from Door-Step School

    MUMBAI: At his first engagement during his visit to Mumbai, WWE Superstar The Great Khali met with children from Door-Step School, an NGO working towards providing a sustainable education to underprivileged children in Mumbai city.

    50 children from this school were invited to participate in a sit and draw competition, where they drew their favorite WWE star. No surprise that this turned out to be The Great Khali , a WWE Superstar that these children could identify with - a man with humble beginnings who made it to the top echelons of professional wrestling, through sheer determination and hard work.

    The Great Khali is a patron of education and truly supports efforts towards educating underprivileged children. The Great Khali himself wishes to make significant contributions back home to educate children.

    The Great Khali in his interactions with the children explained the need for proper education- a very necessary building block for an individual‘s future. The children listened with rapt attention and promised to do their best to become achievers and leaders someday.

    MUMBAI: Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM is celebrating its fifth anniversary with the spirit of helping the cancer patients of Mahesh Memorial Trust Children?s Wing of Cancer Institute. Towards this, Radio Mirchi in association with Times foundation is appealing to its listeners to contribute Rs.5 or in denominations of 5. The 10 day campaign will kick started on May 5, 2008 coinciding with the 5th Anniversary celebrations.

    As a part of the fund raising campaign, Radio Mirchi RJs would be visiting the prime locations in the city to raise funds and encourage the college students to join the campaign. Radio Mirchi is also requesting prominent filmstars, corporate officials and government officials to make their share of contribution towards the noble cause in cash or kind. Listeners can make their contribution by either giving it to the RJs visiting prominent placesor drop it in the collection box placed at the Mirchi office.

    Radio Mirchi will donate the raised funds to the Mahesh Memorial Trust Children?s Wing of The Cancer Institute and that would be utilized for making a recreation room for the children that includes, toys, games, TV etc.

  • BIG 92.7 FM, Kanpur hosts Inter - School 'BIG DEBATE'

    MUMBAI: BIG 92.7 FM, India‘s No.1 FM Station, keeping with the vibe of the city this summer organized an Inter - School ‘BIG DEBATE‘ for which saw students across 11 reputed schools of the city participate. The week long event was organized around the topic of the prevailing electricity supply menace in the city and concluded today at Ragendra Swarup Center for Performing Arts.

    The competition saw a huge participation of students who expressed their views on ‘should we reduce the consumption or should we increase the production of electricity.‘ Students from Dr. Virendra Swarup Memorial, Shieling House, Huddard High School, United Public School, Maharana Pratap Education Center, Wendy Academy, Delhi Public School, Kalyanpur, D.P.S,Azad Nagar, Jain International and Gaurav International School participated with full zeal and put forth their point of view. Students for the motion suggested innovative measures to conserve the energy whereas those supporting the production of more electricity drew the attention of the audience towards technology and emphatically stressed upon the fact that the perfect blend of latest technology and available natural resources can help produce electricity to the best. It‘s just the matter of research!

    ‘BIG DEBATE‘ was conducted at two levels. The preliminary round consisted of Inter House Debate Competition, where RJ Deeplali, RJ Anamika and RJ Peeyush visited schools and interacted with students regarding the crucial problem of the city that is power cut. The finalists of various schools participated in the Inter School debate competition and were adjudged by Dr. Naqvi, Dr. Neeta Jain, Mr. Ganesh Tiwari on the basis of their overall presentation, pronunciation, expressions and intonation.

    Amidst tough competition and were finally declared the winners. Chief Guest, Ravindra Patani, Mayor honored the winners, he further commented "Electricity supply is the craving problem of the city. Being vigilant can help solve the problem up to a large extent. Such activities hosted by BIG 92.7 FM, by and large make a difference and surely create awareness among the listeners."

    Guest of Honour,Mr S.K Verma, Executive Engineer,KESCO, inaugurated the event and appreciated the views of the students and efforts of BIG 92.7 FM for providing the platform where local issues could be discussed. He said, "BIG 92.7 FM has initiated a better way to look into these problems of Kanpur and participation of youngsters adds more mileage as it shows their concern for such problems."
