BANGALORE: The Karnataka state government is gearing up to release a policy on animation and gaming industry in order to give the booming industry a big fillip.
Karnataka Minister for Science and Technology and Fisheries Anand V Asnotikar said, "Karnataka has the distinction of bringing policies for IT, biotechnology, semiconductor and electronic hardware manufacturing for the first time in the country to give impetus for the growth of these sectors. The state will shortly release a policy on animation and gaming give a big boost to this promising sector. Leveraging this experience we will bring out a nanotechnology policy to define the roadmap for sustainable growth of this sunrise sector."
"We will announce the policy for animation and gaming over the next week or so," revealed Department of Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science and Technology Principal Secretary to the Government of Karnataka MN Vidyasagar while speaking with indiantelevision.com.
Earlier, in October 2011 at the inaugural ceremony of the IT biz in Bangalore, Karnataka Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda had stated that the state will come out with a policy on animation and gaming to enhance this promising sector.
Re-iterating the government?s announcement Asnotikar was speaking on behalf of the Karnataka Chief Minister at the inaugural session of the 4th edition of the Bangalore Nano today.
Bangalore Nano is an annual event organised by Department of Science & Technology Government of Karnataka, under the guidance of Vision Group on Nanotechnology and JNCASR. The focal theme of the 4th edition of the Bangalore Nano is Nanoscience & Technology at the cutting Edge.
