Sundance Channel to launch on France’s Free platform

MUMBAI: Rainbow Media Holdings has signed a distribution deal with triple-play service provider Free for the launch of its channel Sundance in France.

Starting today, Sundance will offer audiences films, documentaries and original programmes. It will also mark the occasion of Free’s 10th anniversary.

“On the eve of our 10th anniversary, we are ecstatic that Free will be first to broadcast Sundance Channel in France—a real opportunity for all of us and a fitting match,” said Free GM Maxime Lombardini.

Sundance was acquired by Rainbow Media in May 2008. Under the creative direction of Robert Redford, it claims a reach of more than 30 million subscribers in the US. The channel’s launch on Free is its third international carriage deal, although Free will be the first to physically debut Sundance channel in France.
