MUMBAI: 94.3 Radio One, the country?s only Music Station, has begun their hunt for fresh talent amongst college students across India. Radio One College Championship (ROCC) is the only interactive competition introduced by a radio station that brings out the best amongst the participants.

The first of its kind annual event from the house of 94.3 Radio One is the hunt for the finest talent amongst students who aspire to be Music Jockeys (MJs) on the station. The lucky few who manage to surpass the grueling semi final phase get a chance to intern at the radio station which exposes them to every single aspect of the working of a radio station.

ROCC has just kicked off auditions across 70 colleges all over the country, supported by an extensive teaser campaign and on-ground activations.

Shyju Varkey, National head of Marketing 94.3 Radio One, said: ?Radio One College Champions is 94.3 Radio One?s way of spreading the love for radio amongst its most potent audience... The whole idea is for college students to get a feel of the radio environment, so they can take a decision incase they would like to pursue radio as a career. More than anything else, this is a great way to connect with the youth on a large scale. So far there have been around more than 5000 registrations in colleges across the country?.

It provides a new platform to young talents to compete with each other in order to become the best Music Jock for Radio One. This year, ROCC will be supported by Nokia as the title sponsor, Pantaloons as the presenting sponsor and the Bangalore Management Academy as the knowledge partner .

Commenting on this, Rajeev Bhandari , VP National Business, said, ?We are elated that we have been able to grow Radio One‘s College Radio Championship far above our expectations, keeping in tune with the high growth rate of our station. Being the third year of association with Radio One College Champions , the campaign has extensively helped Pantaloons to get to the heart of the youth. Another interesting concept that Pantaloons will be offering the youth is career opportunities in new age careers like fashion photography and ad film making?
