MUMBAI: PIX will be showing the much-awaited BAFTA Awards at *2.30 pm on Monday, 14th February 2011 followed by a repeat telecast at 9pm on the same day. Often cited as a pre cursor to the Oscars, Bafta is a British charity that hosts the annual award shows for films, television, television craft and video games. This year, the glittering awards ceremony is taking place at London‘s Royal Opera House.

BAFTA plays an important role in honoring the film industry?s brightest stars from around the world. Pix is delighted to provide the high quality entertainment content of these prestigious awards to the audience in India.

Award nominees include films like The Social Network, The King‘s Speech, Black Swan, and Inception. Indian music maestro A.R Rahman has been nominated for the Bafta awards for his composition in Danny Boyle‘s 127 Hours. He has been nominated second time for Bafta after being nominated last year for Danny Boyle‘s *Slumdog Millionaire* and also won an award for it.

Pix Business Head Sunder Aaron said, ?Pix has been exclusively airing the BAFTA?s since 2007 and it is an honor to have the exclusive rights this year as well. The BAFTA?s recognise and facilitate the work of several universally acclaimed, great films and we are extremely proud that our very own AR Rahman is in the race for his second BAFTA for Danny Boyle?s 127 Hours. Also, The Social Network which has been nominated across 6 categories is a title we will be soon airing on the channel as a result of our exclusive output deal with Sony Pitchers Entertainment?.

The King‘s Speech leads the BAFTA race with 14 nominations, followed by Black Swan with 12, Inception with nine, 127 Hours and True Grit with 8 each and The Social Network with six. Other composers who have been nominated alongside with A.R Rahman are alongside *Danny Elfman (Alice In Wonderland), John Powell (How To Train Your Dragon), Hans Zimmer (Inception) and Alexandre Desplat (The King‘s Speech).
