• Sandisk appoints ganesh guruswamy as vice president of its India design center

    BANGALORE, INDIA, July 15, 2013 ? SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ: SNDK), a global leader in flash memory storage solutions, today announced that it has named Ganesh Guruswamy as vice president and head of design operations for SanDisk India Design Center located in Bangalore, India.

    Guruswamy?s responsibilities will include leading the design center?s world-class engineering teams in the development of SanDisk?s next-generation consumer storage solutions, including USB flash drives, memory cards, microSD cards, and other removable flash-based products. Guruswamy will report to Jeff VerHeul, SanDisk?s senior vice president of corporate engineering.

    Guruswamy has over 25 years of experience in the semiconductor industry. Prior to SanDisk, he served as vice president and India country manager at Freescale Semiconductor, and in senior management and engineering roles at Motorola, Advanced Micro Devices, and the Indian Space Research Organization.

    Guruswamy has served on the executive council of the Indian Semiconductor Association and has been featured in multiple publications. He earned a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Idaho in the United States, and a Bachelor of Engineering degree in electronics from Bangalore University.

  • Nokia with the support of PWD Ministry to add color to everyday life in Mumbai

    15th July, 2013: Nokia, with the support of the PWD Ministry, Government of Maharashtra, today added colors to the everyday lives of Mumbaikars by splashing vibrant hues across a few Zebra crossings in Mumbai to launch its campaign #colorisin.

    The campaign was inaugurated by Shri. Chhaggan Bhujbal, PWD Minister and Minister of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra and Mr. P.Balaji, Managing Director, Nokia India by painting the zebra crossing outside Sahara Star Hotel. This is the first among 12 Zebra crossings across Mumbai that Nokia will maintain along with Mumbaikars for next 12 months.

    Nokia is at the forefront of this ?color revolution? and has introduced colourful devices across price points. By now adding color to the Zebra crossings, the company along with the PWD Ministry is aiming at increasing awareness among citizens on the importance of zebra crossings to pedestrian safety.

    Commenting on this unique initiative by Nokia, Mr. Chhaggan Bhujbal, Minister of Public Works said, ?I am very proud of this initiative since we are really starting a citizen movement that will encourage people to start using these crossings and help aid pedestrian safety. We encourage more and more Mumbaikars to come forward and join this movement.?

    Commenting at the initiative, Mr. P.Balaji, Managing Director, Nokia India, said, ?It gives me immense pleasure to partner with the PWD Ministry for this unique campaign.   • Special preview screening of ?Bhaag Milkha Bhaag? for Indian Armed Forces

Ltd and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, in association with UFO Moviez India Ltd, the world?s largest satellite delivered digital cinema network, held exclusive preview screenings of the eagerly awaited biopic ?Bhaag Milkha Bhaag? in all UFO digital Defence theatres across India, a day ahead of the film?s nationwide theatrical release. Starring Farhan Akhtar and Sonam Kapoor, and directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, ?Bhaag Milkha Bhaag? is a film about the revered athlete Milkha Singh?s perseverance as a sportsperson and also as a courageous human spirit.

    While the theatrical release of the film is scheduled for 12th July, the exclusive premiere for Indian Defence Personnel and their families was held at 8 pm on July 11th, in UFO?s digital Defence theatres across India.
