  • ATHARVA?S Upcoming Mnagement Fest : RHYTHM

    MUMBAI: Atharva Institute of Management Studies, a leading management institute in Mumbai is conducting its annual inter-collegiate festival, ??RHTYM 2013?. The theme for the festival for this year is ?Virtual World?. Atharva Group of Institutes jointly holds Rhythm every year which is organized by students from various disciplines like MBA, Engineering, Hotel Management, Fashion designing, etc. Students from management institutes across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane will be participating in various events that will be held for three days commencing from the 5th of March up to the 7th of March. Like every year this year too, the events would dwell upon various disciplines of Management. This year, 30 to 40 institutes are expected to actively participate in RHYTHM 2013.

  • Star Sports, ESPN HD to showcase 'El Clasico' on 2 March

    NEW DELHI: Star Sports and ESPN HD will broadcast the first ever prime time live broadcast of the highly-anticipated ?El Clasico?between La Liga rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona at 8:30 pm on 2 March.

    Traditionally telecast in the wee-hours of the morning, this weekend?s El Clasico is specifically scheduled during prime-time hours, aimed at targeting La Liga fans in Asia.

    La Liga fans can look forward to a 30 min studio preview hosted by Andy Penders, with former Liverpool midfielder and England International Steve McMahon and resident Spanish football expert Antonio Codinach providing analysis and insights before the match.
    Former Real Mallorca and Tottenham Hotspur striker Gerry Armstrong will be providing live commentary for the match.

    With Barcelona and Real Madrid ranked the second and third most popular football clubs in the world, this nail-biting affair is certain to draw a robust global audience of hundreds of millions as arguably one of the biggest football rivalries in history.

    This weekend?s El Clasico marks the 165th time the title contenders Barcelona and Real Madrid face each other.

    Earlier this week, began a seamless effort to cast Cinthol?s brand philosophy of ?Alive is Awesome? over cricket fans on the microsite www.cinthol.com/deo via a teaser film that had a tense Virat Kohli sitting in the dressing room before a match. The film ended with a simple question posed by the young superstar of Indian cricket and brand ambassador for Cinthol Deo, ?Do you know what?s going on in my head??

    Built purely on social media, the teaser phase was led by the microsite where Virat Kohli personally responded to tons of interesting, surprising and entertaining comments via video in a candid tone.

    Within 5 hours of its official launch on Twitter, #InViratsHead was trending worldwide. For over 24 hours now, it has been trending in India as well (all cities included), sometimes even above the 2013 union budget and the railway budget.

    Fans from US, UK, France, Australia, Singapore, Pakistan and pan India have been posting their answers via Twitpics, Youtube videos and witty one-liners.     MUMBAI: Amrita TV?s Natakame Ulakam which championed political satire in Malayalam Television, to jolt politicians out of their self-righteous and hypocritical composure and unmask the motives behind their pretentiousness, has crossed 350 episodes. Telecast every Saturday at 10.30pm, it is re-telecast on Wednesday mornings at 9.00am.

    Natakame Ulakam marked the first time that political satire, which had traditionally been an offspring of the print sector, was adopted by the visual media; the televised avtar retained the same sting and punch of the original genre, providing even more entertainment and illumination in its print version.

    The burlesque begins with a talking head of the creator-producer who trains the cross-hairs of his humorous assault on individuals currently ruling the news roost or incidents cannibalizing the front pages, mocking, lampooning them with all the conventional artillery in the satirical arsenal such as sarcasm, irony, ridicule, exaggeration, comparison, analogy etc. He also loads his verbal narrative with weapons from the visual armoury- political clippings edited in tune to hit numbers to form rollicking sequences, parodies of popular film songs providing ?musical voice overs? to visuals, intercutting well-known film clippings with real life footage for the most hilarious results, repeated replays and other editing techniques to add more voltage to his fire power.

    He is scrupulously impartial and non- partisan ; no one is spared his witty volleys, with both the Oppositions and Ruling party alike becoming the target of his lively barbs and mocking salvos as he akes on public men of all hues and shows them up in their true colors.
