  • Intel launches next wave of Ultrabook with new 3rd Generation Core Processors

Submitted by ITV Production on Jun 11, 2012

MUMBAI: Intel today displayed its newest wave of ultra sleek Ultrabook systems powered by 3rd Generation Intel Core processors and made with the world?s most advanced 22nm 3-D tri-gate transistors.

With a price range beginning from Rs 50,000, these new Ultrabook devices are responsive and more secure to better protect personal information. The new chips also offer increased media and graphics performance, long battery life and more choice in stylish designs.

A special feature is the enhanced security Intel Anti-Theft technology that lets people automatically disable the system if it is lost or stolen. Available in 11 languages and in major markets worldwide, people can activate free, limited-time Intel AT service subscriptions from Absolute Software, McAfee, Norton and Intel on an Ultrabook right out of the box. In India this service is currently being offered by Croma.

Just about a month ago, Intel had introduced the quad-core 3rd Generation Intel Core processor family, delivering dramatic visual and performance computing gains for gamers, media enthusiasts and mainstream users alike.
"Similar to the introduction of Intel Centrino nearly a decade ago, this is a time of revolutionary change in personal computing," said Debjani Ghosh, Managing Director, Sales & Marketing Group, Intel South Asia. "The innovation will continue in the coming years as Intel and the industry aim to raise the bar for personal computing experiences, evolving to more natural and intuitive interactions. Personal computing as we know it today will suddenly seem old fashioned."

She added: "Intel Insider technology, when combined with Intel Wireless Display (WiDi), will allow streaming of premium HD movies from a 3rd Gen Intel Core processor based PC or Ultrabook to an HD television, without cables, thereby delivering the ultimate movie-viewing experience to consumers, with stunning image clarity."

With a battery life of five to eight hours, Ultrabook devices will wake in a flash, meaning the system will transition from deep sleep (S4 mode) to its active state in less than seven seconds. Additionally, all Ultrabook devices are now required to be "responsive while active" which means that they will load and run users? favourite apps quickly1.

Connecting at blazing speeds is also now possible with the addition of USB 3.0, Thunderbolt technology or both. Thunderbolt technology is a high-speed connection that allows incredibly fast transfers. For example, a full-length HD movie can be transferred to an Ultrabook in less than 30 seconds.

Additionally, all 3rd Generation Intel Core processor-based Ultrabook devices have Intel Identity Protection technology built in to help keep users? identities safe. With this technology, a payments processor, a bank, an online merchant, a social media site or a gaming site can establish a trusted relationship with the Ultrabook user and reduce the chance that imposters are using their identities on enabled websites and social networks.

Because of Intel?s innovative 22nm tri-gate transistor manufacturing technology the 3rd GIntel Core processors now deliver 22% faster performance on multi-threaded applications compared to 2nd Generation Intel Core processors. For example, experiences when using photo editing software or many games will significantly improve based on the new processors. The new Ultrabooks have up to twice the video processing and 3-D graphics performance of the prior generation, cutting a user?s video processing time in half and making for a smoother, richer visual experience.

All Ultrabooks with 3rd Generation Core processors will have built-in visuals with features like Intel Quick Sync Video, Intel Clear Video HD, Intel HD Graphics, Intel InTru 3D, Intel Wireless Display and Intel Insider.

Neeraj Roy, Managing Director and CEO, Hungama Digital Media Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., who was present at the event, said "India?s new age movie-goer has evolved and with the advancement of technology he wants the flexibility to watch his favorite content on his preferred mode of viewing at any time. At Hungama we now offer consumers premium quality HD content in a secure and hassle-free manner onto their 3rd Gen Intel Core based Ultrabooks. Through a service like this we can also convince movie companies and studios to put out their most precious belonging, their films, on a public platform like the internet because of the security and experience it offers."

"The Ultrabook is a highly desirable lifestyle accessory for everyone and achieves a unique combination of artistic craftsmanship and advanced technology. Satya Paul is synonymous with evocative designs, signature prints and timeless style and every carefully crafted piece is a testament of the brand?s creative expertise. When we saw the Ultrabook for the first time, it struck us as being a lifestyle accessory achieving a unique combination of artistic craftsmanship and advanced technology much like our designs. This inspired us to design a line of exclusive accessories for the Ultrabook," said Rajiv Grover, Chief Operating Officer of Genesis Colors Pvt. Ltd., the holding company for brands like Satya Paul, Satya Paul Menswear & Accessories, Tie Rack London and Bwitch.

  • Vizeum from the Aegis Media group celebrates its 3rd anniversary on 8th June 2012

Submitted by ITV Production on Jun 08, 2012

MUMBAI: The organization which is built from scratch without even a single global alignment has made some steady progress in their journey which goes well with the brand positioning statement - start from a different place.

Vizeum globally is spread across 55 countries and prides itself in offering consumer understanding and business solutions at a different level.

In India, Vizeum has been in the news on various new business acquisitions, talent induction and launch of their engagement planning solution which they termed as the process of talking ?with? the consumers in addition to passive ads that talk ?at? consumers.

Commenting on the Vizeum operation in India, said Ashish Bhasin, Chairman India and CEO South East Asia, Aegis Media ?It is indeed a proud moment for all of us at Aegis Media to see Vizeum grow into the size, stature, credibility and position it has managed to reach within a 3 year window. Starting from scratch, without any globally aligned business handed to them, it is creditable that Vizeum, today, contributes positively to the Aegis Media India profits. Vizeum clients just seem to love them. I congratulate Yesu (S Yesudas) on the extra ordinary leadership provided by him. I also congratulate each member of the Vizeum team on the wise career choice made by them. I wish Yesu and Vizeum all the very best as they scale further heights in time to come?

Explaining further on the mandate for Vizeum India, said S Yesudas, Managing Director ?We do not have any dreams to be the largest or among the largest media specialists in terms of financial size. But we really want to be known as a credible consultant who builds bridges of relevance with its clients?

He further added ?The genesis of the media business is aggregation. While a lot has changed on the consumer side and the media channel side, the aggregation process is something that?s still focused on by a lot of media specialists, creating savings/discounts and theoretical reach on plans delivered based on algorithms loaded on computer hard drives. We made an attempt to bring in some changes through our consumer and media environment understanding and focused on tangible solutions for clients keeping in mind their business eco system?.

Vizeum believe clients are their ambassadors. It is well corroborated going by their estimation of 30% of their last year revenue coming from pure referral businesses, where their existing clients have referred them to others. Clients do share this view.

Shivnath Thukral, Group President ? Corporate Branding and Strategic Initiatives, Essar Group said ?Vizeum rides the highs and lows of my organization, understanding the circumstances under which we operate. It is achieved through a complete understanding externally and internally. They think the way we think. They enmesh themselves in the work we do. They help meet our aspirations?

The views shared by Vivek Krishnani, Head of Marketing, Distribution and Syndication, Fox Star Studios India are no different. He says ?Vizeum came to us with an approach to help make a difference to our business and they did just that!! In an industry where logic of share of voice can be to outshout by increasing media spend and thereby being susceptible to wastage - With Vizeum?s help we have been able to optimize our spends and get more for less !! I admire their persuasiveness and the desire to do more which reinforces their partnership spirit and drive to achieve excellence!!?

Aditya Swamy, EVP & Business Head, MTV India also echoes the same sentiments ?Vizeum is an agency that focuses on finding a non traditional approach to a brief. Eager to show maximum bang for the buck, their recommendations are truly customized to meet the challenge at hand. Strategic partnerships, clutter breaking innovations and leveraging relationships have been some of their key strengths. I congratulate Yesu and his team for completing 3 action packed years in India and look forward to working together in the future too?

Rajesh Mani, GM- Marketing & Retail TI Cycles and BSA Motors (Murugappa Group) said ? The decision to move to Vizeum was much deliberated upon at our end after they made their pitch which impressed us. It is a two year old relationship now and the comfort with them has only grown. Their team as well as the top leadership stay involved in our business as our own team gives us great comfort. We wish them the very best ?

An elated Yesudas, who as the leader of the business has all the right reason to be so, sums up ?We are very fortunate to have the set of dedicated members of our team engaging with our clients in as selfless a manner as possible. I take this opportunity to thank my lieutenants for being there with me. It is also time to thank each of our clients for trusting us and giving us an opportunity. I would like to tell each of them -we will just be there by your side!!?

  • BBC World News Horizons explores advances in eco-living in China and India

Submitted by ITV Production on Jun 07, 2012

Mumbai: In the tenth episode of the Horizons series, presenters Adam Shaw and Saima Mohsin visit Bangalore, India and Tianjin, China to see whether the need for urban expansion can be balanced with reducing the impact on natural resources and the environment.

In the next 20 years there are expected to be nearly two billion new city dwellers, with most of this growth taking place in the developing world.

In North East China, Adam Shaw travels to Tianjin Eco-City to visit what has been described as the world?s largest Eco-City development. A joint venture between the governments of China and Singapore but in partnership with private sector developers; the project covers 30 square kilometres of previously abandoned land and by 2020 is anticipated to become home to 350,000 people.

Adam meets Ho Tong Yen, Chief Executive of the Sino-Singapore Eco-city Investment & Development Company to find out aboutthe challenges involved in being commercially viable as well as green.

Ho Tong Yen said: ?What we?re trying to do is to make sure what we do here can be done elsewhere. So we are aiming for 20% renewable energy, and we ensure the homes we build here are much greener than our usual business but not to the extent that cost rises beyond what the market can support.?

Later, Adam meets Richard Register, one of the world?s leading theorists in ecological urban planning and the man credited with coining the term ?Eco-City.? Adam and Richard discuss the problems of defining what the term ?eco-city? means and the importance of changing the way we look at urban development.

Saima Mohsin travels to Bangalore to visit two eco-friendly housing developments, which aim to be almost entirely independent from the civic infrastructure for water and electricity, using mainly renewable energy sources. At Zed Earth she talks to some of the residents to see how low carbon living is reducing their energy bills.

Saima also meets economist turned eco-entrepreneur Chandrashekar Hariharan, to discuss the issues facing India as the demand for new buildings grows.

Chandrashekar Hariharan, Chairman, BCIL ? Biodiversity Conservation India Ltd said: ?The building industry as well as the customer needs to see that every certified building will result in a 30% reduction in the use of energy post occupancy, around 20% in the course of construction of that building, a 50% reduction in the demand for fresh water in such a building. To me this is a sort of microcosm of the sort of cities that will happen in the next 15 years. That will have to happen. This is an imperative, these are not alternatives. You need to get at least 3% of the building industry to be doing what we?re doing then in 30 or maybe 40 years we will all get sustainable.?
