  • Zee Caf? showcases Rookie Blue on 16 February

    Mumbai: When Andy and Dov try to impress their superiors with their policing skills, the two risks their lives and the life of an informant. "Signals Crossed" - Andy‘s undercover skills are put to the test when she‘s brought in to pose as a prostitute during a citywide sting operation. But a bid by Andy and Dov to impress Sergeant Boyko with their initiative backfires when the two rookies put a vulnerable informant‘s life in jeopardy, and it‘s left to Andy to infiltrate a risky gun deal in progress to save her, on "Rookie Blue," on February 16, Thursday at 10 PM on the Zee Caf?.

    "Rookie Blue" stars Missy Peregrym as Andy McNally, Gregory Smith as Dov Epstein, Charlotte Sullivan as Gail Peck, Enuka Okuma as Traci Nash, Travis Milne as Chris Diaz, Ben Bass as Sam Swarek and Eric Johnson as Detective Luke Callaghan. Also starring in the series are Melanie Nicholls-King as Noelle Williams, Matt Gordon as Oliver Shaw, Noam Jenkins as Detective Jerry Barber and Lyriq Bent as Frank Best.

    Guest starring in "Signals Crossed" are John Pyper-Ferguson as Dean, Aidan Devine as Sergeant Boyko, Sarain Boylan as Sadie Falls and Thomas Mitchell as Darren.

    "Signals Crossed" was written by Sherry White and directed by Paul Fox.

    T S Ramakrishnan serves as an Advisor to several technology startup companies in Silicon Valley, Europe and Asia. T S has a long track record of helping build some fairly successful startups ? including Oracle, Yahoo!, Skype, Facebook, and Admob. Prior to Bubble Motion, he was VP of Engineering at AdMob, mobile advertising marketplace acquired by Google. As an early executive at Admob, he played a key role in its formative period. Prior to AdMob, TS worked as VP of Engineering for Facebook, where he oversaw the social networking site‘s architecture and led Facebook‘s product engineering team. At Facebook, TS managed a technology rollout that expanded Facebook beyond its college community, developed and launched the first Facebook Platform and built the site‘s first mobile version. Prior to Facebook, TS served as Head of Partner Technologies for Skype. TS also pioneered Yahoo! Instant Messenger and Mobile Messaging, which he led for over seven years. Prior to his decade building out Yahoo products, TS spent another decade helping to build out Oracle from its infancy.

    Ramakrishnan holds BE in Computer Science from National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli. He also completed his MS in Computer Science from University of Alabama.

    Mumbai: Cricket in India is a religion that begets utmost excitement and unifies the whole nation. From a school kid to a retired man, men in blue have millions of ardent fans. The charisma of cricket is such that every victory is celebrated with as much zeal as that for any other festival in India. But one never thought that dark days would return to haunt Indian cricket again. Gone are the days when Indian cricket team brought laurels to the country by winning trophies, particularly post the World Cup. In the recent times, the continuous defeat of Indian team has left the fans in dismay leaving the stadiums empty. The 4-0 clean sweep in England was bad enough given the Indian team‘s lofty reputation. And just when one thought it couldn‘t get any worse, comes another disaster down Under. Eight straight away defeats outside sub-continent. It?s a roller coaster ride for the cricket fans!!

    Aiming to highlight the concerns associated with Indian cricket, NewsX will hold a panel debate titled ?Hitting The Right Pitch? . The discussion scheduled to be held in Amity College, Noida will seek to explore the possible reasons behind the current state and the measures which could be taken to brighten the future of the game. Ace cricketers like Javagal Srinath and Aakash Chopra along with veteran sports journalist, Ayaz Memon will participate in the discussion. The debate will be moderated by Shamya Dasgupta, Sports Editor, NewsX.

    The debate will also dwell on areas like exploring new talents such as fast bowlers, whether playing more county cricket matches as compared to domestic league & IPL would help and the possible reasons behind Indian cricket team?s poor performance outside the Indian sub- continent .

  • Reliance Home Video & Games releases home video of The Rum Diary

    Mumbai: Reliance Home Video & Games has released the home video of The Rum Diary based on the early novel by Hunter S. Thompson, releases worldwide on DVD on February 14th. In India the DVD is being released by Reliance Home Video & Games.

    The Rum Diary, written and directed by Bruce Robinson, stars Johnny Depp. Filming began in Puerto It marks Robinson‘s first film as director in nineteen years, his prior film being Jennifer 8, released in 1992.

    The film tells the increasingly unhinged story of itinerant journalist Paul Kemp (Johnny Depp). Tiring of the noise and madness of New York and the crushing conventions of late Eisenhower-era America, Kemp travels to the pristine island of Puerto Rico to write for a local newspaper, The San Juan Star run by downtrodden editor Lotterman (Richard Jenkins.).

    Adopting the rum-soaked life of the island, Paul soon becomes obsessed with Chenault (Amber Heard), the wildly attractive Connecticut-born fianc?e of Sanderson, a business involved in shady property development deals, is one of a growing number of American entrepreneurs who are determined to convert Puerto Rico into a capitalist paradise in service of the wealthy. When Kemp is recruited by Sanderson to write favorably about his latest unsavory scheme, the journalist is presented with a choice: to use his words for the corrupt businessman?s financial benefit, or use them to take the bastards down.
