  • Bloomberg UTV stirs competition!

    MUMBAI: According to the latest week‘s TAM report WK 2 (Jan 2 - 8, 2011), India‘s premiere business news channel - Bloomberg UTV has achieved a remarkable rise in its market share. Rising to the No. 2 slot in the genre, Bloomberg UTV has garnered market share of 16%.

    In a week that saw a decline in the Business News genre (English & Hindi), Bloomberg UTV has consolidated its position at the No. 2 spot during market hours. Among other Metros, Mumbai was the strongest market for the channel with 30% share of the market.

    During morning hours leading into the Markets opening (8:00 - 10:00am), Bloomberg UTV attained the No. 1 position with 48% market share across 6 Metros. ‘Minting Money‘ was the most watched business news programme this week with the highest TVR in the genre.

    Another major fillip to the performance of the channel came in the form of Breaking News and Exclusives. Major stories like the CITIBANK fraud, Nalco‘s overseas acquisitions, L&T restructuring, Patni Stake Sale, the Lavasa Case, Sahara vs. SEBI and the latest developments on the 2G scam.

    The channel which has been strategically planning its growth is slowly but surely turning the tide in its favor with its focus on innovative and path breaking programming, combined with a sure footed impetus on business news gathering and presentation.

    MUMBAI: Kohler got Percept Out of Home on board to promote their newly launched magnetism The ?Flip Side? shower head, a revolutionary product which offers four different types of bathing experience just by flipping the shower head.

    The objective of the campaign was to create brand awareness of Kohler and to generate more enquiries about the products. Percept Out of Home put up large format billboards in prime locations like the high traffic zones, dealers network with innovative and eye catching displays targeting the Elite class, primarily the male target audience by communicating effectively its brand attributes and USP.

    Commenting on this activity Mr. Sanjay Pareek, President, Percept Out of Home said, ?Kohler for the first time in India launched a product at a great price, targeted to the SEC-A Category TG. The ?Flip Side? shower head is a revolutionary product which offers four different types of bathing experience just by flipping the shower head. The Campaign was with great creatives, tailor-made for the OOH media. Locations were drawn up based on popular TG congregation points, and sanitary / bath fitting markets to inform the TG, and malls across these three cities.

  • BBC World News Premiers Supercar documentary Racing Green

    MUMBAI: BBC World News is broadcasting a new series Racing Green starting 1 January 2011. The eight part documentary follows a team of five young engineers from Imperial College London, as they attempt the 26,000 KM journey along the Pan-American Highway, in the electric car they designed and built.

    Project Manager Alex Schey initiated the Racing Green Endurance project in 2005. The objective was to design a good looking battery electric car with the largest range in the world, and to test it by driving it along the world‘s longest road.

    Alex said: "We wanted to have a car that was exciting to look at, so that when people saw it driving along they would want to find out more. It worked perfectly - at every stop we were surrounded by people from all different backgrounds ? from businessmen in San Francisco to a 200 strong crowd at the Guatemalan border ? it is a great way to begin the conversation and to tell everybody more about electric vehicles. They were all surprised when we told them that it could run for over 500km on around $5 of electricity."

    Mary Wilkinson, Commissioning Editor, BBC World News said: "BBC World News is delighted to be airing Racing Green. It‘s an interesting and entertaining mix of adventure, innovative technology and sheer enterprise shown by the team."

    Their trip began in Chena Hot Springs, North Alaska in July 2010. From there the car and the team travelled to Vancouver, down to San Francisco, across Texas, to Mexico and finally down through South America, finishing in Argentina. During the 70 days of driving the team faced a number of challenges including being stopped 46 times by the police, the car catching fire, crashing the car, and tropical rainstorms.

    Series producer Claudio von Planta, whose credits include Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman‘s Long Way Round and Long Way Down, began following the team in November 2009 to film the documentary, which will be aired on BBC World News on Saturdays at 7.30 and 20.30 GMT and Sundays at 13.30 and 17.30 GMT from 1 January 2011.
