  • Autocue introduce affordable video servers at IBC 2010

Submitted by ITV Production on Sep 10, 2010

MUMBAI: Autocue will show its first four standalone, Linux-based video servers. The servers feature up to four bi-directional HD/ SD channels for simultaneous record and playout, and up to 12TB of storage. These products are an ideal replacement for tape machines, as well as an affordable solution for secondary applications within top-end broadcasters. The servers will start shipping to customers in October 2010.

The introduction of these new products forms part of a new strategy by Autocue to extend its reach within the broadcast sector. The products themselves build on Autocue‘s extensive broadcast experience, for the first time providing broadcasters with servers of the high quality and affordability that they have come to expect from Autocue‘s existing range of teleprompter and newsroom solutions.

As CEO, Frank Hyman explains, "Video servers are a natural evolution for the company and demonstrate the true breadth of our broadcast knowledge, design and development capability."

Hyman continues, "Autocue has been selling newsroom, automation and media management products to top-end broadcasters for more than two decades. In response to demand for a more affordable solution, we developed an end-to-end production system including an own brand video server. This was received so well that we decided to develop a video server that could be used standalone, as part of any production system."

Autocue‘s full range can be found at www.autocue.com and on IBC stand 11.F50.

  • Zee Studio Academy Pick ? CAST AWAY

Submitted by ITV Production on Sep 10, 2010

MUMBAI: Zee Studio?s Academy pick for September, Cast away will be showcased on 12th September, Sunday at 9:00 pm.

Cast Away is a 2000 drama film directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Tom Hanks. Critics had said that by focusing on one man in one setting, Cast Away takes considerable risks, but ultimately it succeeded. Tom Hanks is excellent in the role, and the movie‘s themes make it larger than a simple physical survivor story.

Chuck Noland is a Fed-Ex manager who demands that everything must be on time and travels the world to make sure punctuality is on top of everything else. He has a girlfriend, Kelly, with whom he is deeply in love with and family he hardly sees. When work intrudes on Christmas Eve, Chuck has a quick gift exchange in the car and kisses Kelly goodbye. He boards a delivery plane going overseas which gets caught in a horrendous storm and crashes into the Pacific. The sole survivor Chuck washes up on a remote island along with several Fed-Ex packages that he must use for supplies. With limited luxury, he adapts to the island over the course of 1,500 nights. When Chuck finally sees his chance he rafts out on the ocean and fortunately is spotted. After a bittersweet welcome-back reception, Chuck finds Kelly has married another man and has children. But he is missing more than her. For all his life his objective was work. For four years, it was survival. Now Chuck is compelled to live.

Hanks was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role at the 73rd Academy Awards for his critically acclaimed performance.
