  • CNN-IBN and IBN7 present exclusive programming with Cricketing Legend Sunil Gavaskar

    MUMBAI

    : CNN-IBN presents an exclusive series of programming ?Sunny Side Up? with cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar as the India Australia series is all set to kick off this Oct 25. ?Sunny? as Gavaskar is fondly known to generations of fans, will share his expert opinion all through the series. Viewers will get a daily fix of in-depth analysis on all matches and will get connected as ?Sunny? will take all their questions and engage them in a debate exclusively this cricket season only on CNN-IBN & IBN7.

    The special programming will commence with a special audience based hour long show with Gavaskar as a preview to the series. As the series commences, from October 25, 2009, CNN-IBN will bring an exclusive half hour show with Sunil Gavaskar called ?sunny Side Up? on Oct 25, Nov 8 at 7:30 PM on the day of the match itself with a repeat telecast at 7:30 AM the next day. While other programming shows for Sunny Side Up will be telecast on the days after the match i.e. on Oct 29, Nov1, Nov 3, Nov 6 & Nov 12 at 7:30 PM with a repeat telecast at 7:30 AM the following day.

    Cricket fans can look forward to more passion and drama from the field as CNN-IBN will also analyse team and players specific statics and will also bring an interactive contest at the end of each show of ?Sunny Side Up?.

    Also CNN-IBN?s flagship show during India bilateral series ?Love of Cricket? (LOC) will bring a special show on all match days of the series. The show will go on air at 11:30PM on the match day itself on, Oct 28, Oct 31, Nov 2, Nov 5 Nov 8 & Nov 11 with a repeat telecast at 7:30 AM the following day. The show will bring detailed coverage of each of the matches with award winning journalists including Gaurav Kalra and Meha Bhardwaj.

    IBN7 will also have Sunil Gavaskar on its special programming show ?Big Boss Kaun? on the days after the match at 6:30pm. The show will be completely dedicated to the India-Australia ODI series adding to the cricketing fervor. Also ?Big Boss Koun? will be a daily half-hour shows through the series that would try to find out what lies ahead and the team?s preparedness for the match; a look at the day?s event, the strategy, the game, the turnarounds and review the match played etc daily @ 6:30 PM & 10:30 PM.

    MUMBAI: TIMES NOW, India‘s most watched English news channel, will be airing a special show titled ‘Result Day Live‘, an exclusive program dedicated to covering the election results from three states i.e. Maharashtra, Arunachal Pradesh and Haryana, for the polls which happened on the 13th of this month.

    MUMBAI: On October 24th, watch ?Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade? in which Indiana Jones once again finds himself in another death defying adventure while saving the world from the Nazis. STAR Movies presents the third movie in the series coming Saturday at 9pm!

    Indiana Jones, famed adventurer and archaeologist acquires a diary that holds clues and a map with no names to find the mysterious Holy Grail- which was sent from his father, Dr. Henry Jones. Upon hearing from a private collector, Walter Donavan, that the mission for the Holy Grail went astray with the disappearance of his father, Indiana Jones and museum curator Marcus Brody venture to Italy in search of Indy‘s father.

    Indy must make his way directly into the "Lion‘s Den" - Nazi Germany - in order to save his father! However, upon retrieving Dr. Henry Jones in Nazi territory, the rescue mission turns into a race to find the Holy Grail before the Nazis do- who plan to use it for complete world domination for their super-race. With the diary as a vital key and the map with no names as a guide, Indiana Jones once again finds himself in another death defying adventure!

  • Nominees announced for Asia Pacific Screen Awards 2009

    MUMBAI:The Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) has announced nominees in nine award categories with 37 films representing 16 countries and areas. They are: Australia, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Islamic Republic of Iran, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, Palestinian Territories, People?s Republic of China (Mainland China/Hong Kong), Republic of Korea, Russian Federation, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Turkey.

    Winners of the region?s highest accolade in film will be announced on 26 November at the third annual APSA Ceremony on Australia?s Gold Coast.

    APSA Chairman Des Power said, ?I congratulate the 2009 nominees who represent the extraordinary breadth of talent that exists in our region in a year when the quality of Asia-Pacific films is exceptional. Nominees were determined from a record number of 212 entries from 43 countries. The response indicates that the filmmakers of Asia-Pacific value our mission to
    acclaim their work and take it to a global audience.?

    APSA is a unique collaboration between CNN International, UNESCO and FIAPF-International Federation of Film Producers Associations. Films are judged on cinematic excellence and the way in which they attest to their cultural origins.

    Japan is strongly represented in 2009 with a total of seven nominations followed by the People?s Republic of China with six. India, Iran, Russian Federation and Republic of Korea all received five nominations. Three Australian films are nominated (Maryand Max, Gandhi?s Children, Samson & Delilah) and this marks the first time an Australian film has been recognised in the Best Feature category. Countries and areas nominated in the APSAs for the first time this year are Thailand, Cambodia and Palestinian Territories.

    Asghar Farhadi?s ensemble drama, Darbareye Elly (About Elly, Islamic Republic of Iran), has received the most nominations of any film (Best Feature Film, Achievement in Directing, Best Screenplay and Best Performance by an Actress), followed closely by Lu Chuan?s arresting war epic, Nanjing! Nanjing! (City of Life and Death, People?s Republic of China), which earned three nominations for Directing, Cinematography and Best Feature Film.

    Asia-Pacific?s finest have been recognised in the performance categories. The nominated actresses are: Zhou Xun as a chain-smoking cabbie in Li Mi de Caixiang (The Equation of Love and Death), Kim Hye-ja as a fiercely devoted mother in Bong Joon-ho?s Madeo (Mother), Golshifteh Farahani?s standout performance as Sepideh in Darbareye Elly (About Elly), Yana Troyanova?s complex portrayal of a sociopathic mother in Volchok (Wolfy) and the ?Queen of Sri Lankan cinema?, Malini Fonseka, as the overbearing matriarch in Akasa Kusum (Flowers of the Sky).

    The nominated actors are: Masahiro Motoki for his tender performance as a cellist/mortician in Okuribito (Departures), Yang Ik-june for his portrayal of a low-life gangster in his directorial debut, Ddongpari (Breathless), Mohamed Bakri as a judge earning a living as a taxi driver in Eid Milad Laila (Laila?s Birthday), Ge You as a lonely bachelor looking for love in Fei Cheng Wu Rao (If You Are the One) and legendary Indian actor Naseeruddin Shah (Monsoon Wedding) as ?the common man? in A Wednesday.

    Several nominees in 2009 have previously been nominated in the APSAs and are therefore Members of the Academy of the Asia Pacific Screen Awards. They are: Tulpan producer Karl Baumgartner nominated this year for Strength of Water, Mongol producer Sergey Selyanov nominated this year for Pro Fedota-Streltsa, Udalogo Molodtsa (The Tale of Soldier Fedot, the Daring Fellow) and 2007 Best Feature Film Winner, Lee Chang-dong, nominated this year for Ye Haeng Ja (A Brand New Life).

    Winners are decided by the International Jury headed by Huang Jianxin who will assemble on Australia?s Gold Coast ahead of the APSA ceremony on November 26. The 2009 Nominees join past Jury members and nominees as members of the Academy of the Asia Pacific Screen Awards.
