  • In.com and South Africa tourism's fantastic five - announces the winner of India's first online travel reality show

    MUMBAI: Web18?s In.com, your gateway to the web & South African Tourism are thrilled to announce the lucky winner of Fantastic Five( The South Africa Chapter) as Zishaan Hayat. The spirited 27 year graduate from IIT Bombay who spends life split between work, travel, photography and reading outperformed 4 other contestants in India?s first online travel reality show. As the winner of FANTASTIC FIVE, Zishaan will get to work on an assignment with the prestigious ?Better Photography? magazine, coupled with some cool gadgets in store for the winner on the go! In addition, he will be entitled to a ?Wild card? entry into the next season of the show without any auditions or any other rounds for an entry into season 2.

    Fantastic Five, an interactive online travel series, chronicled the journey of five young travelers set out on an adventure of a life time to a dream destination - South Africa! The Fantastic Five with their immense love for traveling and blogging outdid one another in a bid to win the maximum votes and take the final bow. Post their return to India, online voting for the Fantastic Five blogs were kept open for an additional 10 days, to allow audiences to review the individual travels and choose their final favourite. In addition to audience votes, the performance of each travel blogger was scrutinized and graded internally by Web18 and South Africa Tourism. The final scores were a result of 50% weightage to audience votes, 25% to Web18 and 25% to South Africa Tourism appraisals. Zishan emerged as the clear winner with his excellent writing skills, blogging style, photography and overall travel persona, in addition to popularity with the audience.

    The Fantastic Five contestants traveled from 6th July till 10th of July covering the beautiful cities of Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth in South Africa. Equipped with their mobile phones, video cameras and laptops, the Fantastic Five had one mission ? to discover South Africa through their eyes and showcase their unique experiences through their individual perspectives to the world. Connecting real time with the world and constantly posting their blogs, videos and their experiences on the move, each participant indulged in their favorite activities in their respective cities.

    Speaking on this unique initiative and about the first ever winner of Fantastic Five, Surya Mantha, CEO Web18 said, ?It gives us immense pleasure to announce the winner of Fantastic Five, Zishaan Hayat. Fantastic Five not only gave the finalists a chance to experience South Africa like never before, but it also gave the world a chance to see this incredible country though their eyes.     MUMBAI: Famous pop artist Mika recently made an exclusive appearance at Fever 104 FM, Mumbai to co-host the famous ‘Fever Hot 20‘ show on air with RJ Rishi. Mika interacted with his fans and spoke about his upcoming projects. Further adding on to the excitement, Mika jammed with Fever team and captivated listeners with his popular songs, ‘Something Something‘, ‘Aye ganpat‘ et al.

SMS GupShup‘s messaging platform will enable Indian users to take Facebook with them, wherever they go, using SMS.

    By working with SMS GupShup, Facebook is enabling its service on SMS, the most popular messaging platform in India. Facebook users can now update their status updates and message friends using SMS. They can also receive status updates, messages and wall posts instantly in their SMS inbox.

    SMS GupShup will provide the underlying messaging infrastructure to rapidly and reliably deliver the high volume of incoming and outgoing messages between users and Facebook.

    "SMS GupShup has built the largest SMS-based mobile community in India, on the foundation of a high-performance messaging platform that supports nearly 6% of India‘s SMS traffic", said Beerud Sheth, CEO, SMS GupShup. He added, "We are excited to enable mobilizing the Facebook service in India and look forward to delivering a great mobile experience to their users."

    "We are very excited to work with SMS GupShup, given their experience with both mobile messaging and social media in India", said Henri Moissinac, Director of Mobile, Facebook. Users can reply to their friend‘s messages by simply replying to the incoming SMS. The service will operate on longcodes (i.e. regular 10-digit phone number). Facebook does not charge anything for the mobile service, but regular carrier charges may apply for messages sent to Facebook.

The contestants are ready to face Vishal?s MACHO Dare of the day that is the MOUNTAIN RAPPLING task, which will test the stamina and muscle power in every contestant. The participants have to rappel down A 100 Ft cliff, facing the cliff which is requires great physical strength and strategy.

    The pair who manages to complete this death defying task escapes Sonalli?s wrath at her playground. The bottom two pairs who took the maximum amount of time in the Burma Bridge task are taken to Sonalli?s playground. At the playground the contestants are asked to cook omelettes and feed each other.

    BUT the TWIST in the tale is to mix all the ingredients without using bowls and to divide the mixture between the two team members and mix it in their mouth, gargle and spit into the frying pan and then cook and feed it to each other.

  • Fall in love with Delhi again

    MUMBAI: Miditech, one of Asia?s largest independent production houses, today screened ?The 8th city of Delhi? ?a docu-film showcasing the recreation of Delhi?s journey down the ages at Alliance Franciase. To grace the occasion, Smt. Sheila Dikshit, Hon?ble Chief Minister of Delhi was present along with Miditech Pvt. Ltd. founders Nikhil Alva and Niret Alva.

    The 45-minute film which outlines all the influences that have made Delhi into the paradoxical, multi faceted city it is today will be premiered on Fox History on 30th July 2009 at 21:00 hrs (9:00 pm). It repeats at on 31st July, at 13:00 hrs, 19:00 hrs on 1st August and 11:00 hrs on 2nd August.

    The protagonists of the documentary are a refreshing group of 7 young students from the Delhi College of Art who take a city bus to the venues of the erstwhile 7 cities of Delhi. Their mission is to paint stories from those cities as they figure out the 8th city of Delhi; today?s Delhi.

    The film rocks our sense of time as we find ourselves moving from the paintings, to rare archival historical pictures and back to images of the contemporary world capital.

    For the first time ever- this unusual documentary helps you feel the body and soul of a city that exists on many levels. A city where the sheer joy of discovering a new corner is a huge high even for the die hard resident. This is Delhi. And this film gives you a glimpse into the soul of the city.

    The documentary focuses on reliving the history of each city through unique characters through whom we take a rollercoaster ride into its multifaceted colors, hues, anecdotes, historical references and mysteries.
