  • United, Arsenal, Real live on Ten Sports

Submitted by ITV Production on Oct 22

MUMBAI: Ten Sports, the most watched sports channel of the sub-continent, goes football intensive again with four matches in two days from the latest round of the high-profile UEFA Champions League ? Europe?s biggest and most prestigious football tournament.

Ten Sports will telecast live action from four matches of Matchday Three (October 23 and 24), including English Premiership League champions Manchester United, current Premiership leaders Arsenal, and the ever-powerful Spanish outfit Real Madrid.

United will travel to Ukraine where they take on Dynamo Kiev. The match starts 11:30 pm IST on Tuesday, October 23, followed by Arsenal?s match against Slavia Prague at 2:15 am IST on Wednesday, October 24. The United-Kiev match will be repeated at 5 am, 11 am and 7:30 pm on Wednesday.

The action continues on Wednesday night, when 2005 champions Liverpool will hope to make a move up the table in Group A and secure their first win of the season against Turkish side Besiktas. The match kicks off at 11:30 pm, followed by Real Madrid?s high-profile encounter at home with Greek champions Olympiacos at 2:15 am on Thursday, October 25.

The Liverpool match will be repeated at 4:15 am, 10:30 am and 7:00 pm IST on Thursday, while Real Madrid?s match will be aired at 8:30 am again.

Group F leaders Manchester United have won both their matches and should have it easy against Dynamo Kiev, who are yet to score a win. And with both Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo firing for United, Sir Alex Ferguson?s side should take three more points.

Arsenal have enjoyed a wonderful start to the season and their form has carried on to the Champions League, where they have won both their opening round matches. And playing at home should be easy for them against bottom-of-the-table Slavia Prague.

Olympiacos will no doubt be buoyed by their 3-1 win against Werder Bremen on October 3, which was their first win in 31 matches on the road. But no one will envy their task of facing a fired-up Real at Bernabeu. The Spanish giants will be eager to shrug off their loss to Espanyol with a huge win. The big reward for the winner of the match will be the elevation to the top place in Group C as both the teams currently have four points from two matches.

The UEFA Champions League starts in September and continues till the champion club of Europe is determined in May. The tournament comprises a group stage features 32 teams in eight groups of four, followed by four knockout rounds.

  • Stoner's unique treble bid live on Ten Sports

Submitted by ITV Production on Oct 20

MUMBAI: Casey Stoner will be hoping to add to his already dream season when he tries to win back-to-back races at the Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix on Sunday.

Stoner wrapped up the championship with his sixth place finish in Japan, and then went on to achieve his long-standing dream of winning the Australian GP in front of his doting home fans at the Philip Island tracklast week.

The Ducati rider, who became the second-youngest rider to win the championship and the first for 33 years to do so on a European-manufactured bike, will be eager to take his winning tally in double figures in a dominating season, having already won nine races. Stoner is in prime position to do exactly that, after finishing second behind Danni Pedrosa in the qualifying.

And Ten Sports will be present to bring all the action live when the Malaysian Grand Prix takes place at the exciting Sepang track on Sunday, October 21. The live telecast starts at 9:15 am IST.

The 21-year-old Australian, whose worst result in a season where he could do no wrong, was the sixth place in Japan which actually ensured the championship crown for him, has got extra motivation to do well in Sepang.

Because, even though the chase for the world title is over, the race presents Stoner the opportunity to achieve a unique treble in Sepang. The Australian won the 125cc title in 2004 on a KTM bike and kept up the winning act the following year in the 250cc category astride an Aprilia machine.

Having taken a ninth win this season at the Australian GP in Philip Island on Sunday, Stoner would certainly want to win the premier class race on his Ducati in the penultimate round of the 17-leg world championships.

The Sepang track is specifically built for speed and exciting racing. With four slow corners following two long straights, and ten medium to high-speed corners, the wide track is particularly favourable for overtaking manoeuvres and plenty of open throttle. And the Malaysian weather ? always hot and humid and demanding ? plays an important role in making the race even more demanding for the riders.

    Schedule:

    Day : Sunday

    Date : 21/10/07

    Time : 9:15 a.m

Event : Moto GP : Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix

    Telecast : Live
