  • Red FM Delhi partners with IIT Delhi for their annual festival 'Rendezvous 2007'

    MUMBAI: Red FM, the station of expression now provides a new platform of fun, entertainment and music to the usually cerebral/academic IITians by partnering their annual cultural festival ‘Rendezvous 2007.‘

    The festival is the biggest youth platform in North India and draws huge participation from some of nation‘s top colleges from Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan and other neighbouring regions. More than 25, 000 young boys and girls visit the festival everyday.

    Commenting on the tie-up with IIT Delhi, Akash Verma, Station Head - Delhi said, "Red FM has always been a part of the life of every young listener. Right from encouraging promotional activities in colleges, Red FM has partnered with some of the best and large scale college festivals and truly emerges as a platform of expression for the youth."

    Red Dhamaal" at the Fun Zone - Red FM conducted interesting interactive games with portable branded radios as prizes for participants.

    Rendezvous "Superhit Request of the Day" - RED FM had set-up a dedication box at the campus for song requests. Throughout the festival, Red FM aired the best requested Superhit song on ‘Mera Wala Gaana‘ show between 2pm-5pm.

    "Radio Rendezvous" - Red FM RJs went live on-air from the venue all across the sprawling IIT campus and encouraged students to participate in the exciting contests and activities planned for the day by Red FM

  • PIX lines up a special treat for all Mel Brook fans

    This month PIX presents Mel Brooks - the grand master of movie satire and one of Hollywood‘s most successful filmmakers and some of his best works including - Robin Hood - Men in Tights, Spaceballs, Dracula Dead and Loving it and Twelve Chairs.So don‘t miss the Mel Brooks Special from 24th - 27th Sept only on PIX!

    Starting on September 24th PIX kicks off with one of Brooks‘s blockbuster hits Robin Hood: Men in Tights, which chronicles the adventures of Robin Hood in Mel Brooks style. The end result is a hilarious version of the original movie and a parody of the idea of men running around in tights in the woods. A parody of numerous Robin Hood movies, the film spoofed the Kevin Costner version in particular. Robin returns from the Crusades to discover that his castle is gone, and all that is left is a blind servant. Robin succeeds in uniting a band of peasants, and then proceeds to battle corruption, save the country, and win the heart of Maid Marian. Catch the film on September 24 on Great at 8 on PIX.

    Next on - written, directed and starring himself is another Mel Brook classic - Spaceballs a Sci Fi comedy. A spoof on most of the modern day classic Sci - Fi movies, especially Star Wars, Wizard of Oz, Planet of the Apes, Star Trek, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Alien, this is a complete comic caper. The story revolves around Princess Vespa, who is kidnapped by Spaceballs while running away on her wedding day. Her father recruits Lone Star and his trusty sidekick, Barf, to bring her back home safely, and the trip home is quite an adventure. A must watch, PIX is showing Spaceballs on 25th September on Great at 8.

    Up next on September 26th at 8 pm is the Mel Brooks film Dracula Dead and Loving It! Another masterpiece from this master story teller, this film pokes fun at the Dracula myth. The movie is inspired from the original "Bram Stoker‘s Dracula" only it is a complete spoof of the film with Leslie Nielsen playing a perfect vampire on the loose in London.

    To end the festival on September 27th is Twelve Chairs, another Mel Brooks hit, that involves a hilarious chase for a fortune in jewels. Directed by Brooks, the film is a complete laugh riot as an aging ex-nobleman of the Czarist regime and the local priest find that the family jewels were hidden in a chair, one of a set of twelve. As the two men start out on a hunt to Moscow to find the hidden fortune the film takes many twists and turns and Brooks delivers his best.

    So tune into PIX form September 24 - September 27 on Great at 8 for some of the best comedies by one of Hollywood‘s greatest entertainers and laugh out loud with the Mel Brooks special only on PIX!

  • 'Utsav - Ganpati Bappa Morya' - A CNN-IBN special on Ganesh Visarjan

    MUMBAI: Kicking off its three-month long festive season programming, ‘Utsav‘, CNN-IBN presents a special on Ganesh Visarjan.

    ‘Utsav - Ganpati Bappa Morya‘ will be a half-hour show to commemorate the 11th day of Ganesh Chaturthi with stories from Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Celebrity anchors like Smitha Jaykar, Sonali Kulkarni, Mrinal Kulkarni and Swapnil Joshi will guide viewers through various aspects of this elaborate and colourful festival as celebrated in Mumbai where the entire city comes together for the immersion of the Ganesh idols. The show will also feature Citizen Journalist accounts, in the form of videos and photographs, to show different perspectives of the resplendent festivities from across the country. The show will air on Tuesday, September 25 at 8:30 pm.

    On September 25, CNN-IBN will air live stories through the day to show Ganesh Visarjan celebrations from Mumbai and the rest of the country. As this is considered the last day for the immersion of Ganesh idols, major processions will take place across Mumbai wherein the large ornate statues of the deity will be carried to Girgaum Chowpatty, Dadar and Juhu Chowpatty in order to be ceremoniously immersed into the sea. ‘Utsav - Ganpati Bappa Morya‘ will round up the entire Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations and provide a look into the various facets of this elaborate festival as depicted by celebrities and Citizen Journalists.

    MUMBAI: Known to feel the pulse of its listeners, 94.3 MY FM, the Bhaskar Group station did something Dil Se for the cricket crazy Indian fans.The radio station arranged for the T20 World cup trophy to be displayed at their Jaipur station for a day. An original, the trophy is the second piece made for the World Cup. The trophy will now be sent to South Africa, the official venue of the T20 World Cup.

    A celebrity in itself, the trophy drew huge crowds to the station with people from all over flocking the station to get a glimpse of it. Winning appreciation from its listeners, the channel was thanked for showcasing the trophy and allowing the people to actually ?hold? the prestigious trophy.
