  • Watch Tushar Kapoor and Sharman Joshi on Indian Idol on 31 August at 9 pm

Submitted by ITV Production on Aug 30

MUMBAI: Meiyang Chang‘s exit leaves the top four in the fray to slug it out for the title of Indian Idol. Best friends they may be but when it comes to performances none of the top four are willing to let the other steal the show. So the tenth Gala Round boasts of superlative performances from Emon Chatterjee, Amit Paul, Prasant Tamang and Ankita Mishra.

With each contestant having to perform any two compositions from the ones suggested by the judges, it turned out to be a treat. Amit set the exciting tone for the evening with his opening song Dil kya kare? from the evergreen hit film Julie which had Javed Akhtar remarking that Amit‘s train on the Indian Idol track has taken off and gathering momentum! And while Amit was basking in all the praise a surprise guest had sneaked in on him. Tushar Kapoor. He had a novel idea to test Amit‘s singing skills. He enacted a song which Amit had to sing. It turned out to be a fun session.

Prashant‘s rendition of Kuch na kaho from 1947 : A love story was proof of his immense improvement from week to week. He followed it up with O mere dil ke chain ? and proved again that he could well be the dark horse of Indian Idol. Ankita once again stole the show with her two thunderous performances like only Ankita can. Emon‘s soulful singing of the title track of Kal ho na ho went down well with everybody except Javed Akhtar who pointed out that he was sounding like Sonu Nigam. Emon proved him completely wrong with his very next performance.. a Kishore Kumar number Dilbar mere?vindicating Annu Malek‘s stand that Emon is a singer par excellence.

The singing had the audience on their feet asking for more. There‘s was in fact more. Sharman Joshi and Kunal Khemu were there too and they sang too with the contestants for company. Annu Malek had the last word. He suggested they stick to acting instead!

Watch all the fun unfold on Indian Idol on Friday 31 August, 2007 only on Sony Entertainment Television.

The channel made special arrangements for the Railway minister. The stage was lit with rural setup. Herd of goats, water well, hut cut-outs, a pan shop along with jute cots created a perfect ambience.

All the Challenge 2007 aspirants left no stone unturned to make Laluji feel special with their traditional performances. Amanat Ali rocked the floor with his breathtaking performance on a Bhojpuri song ?Kashi heele Mathura heele, Chapra heele la, tohri lachke jab kamriya, saara jeela heele la.? Laluji got nostalgic with Aneek Dhar?s performance on his favourite song - ?sa ra ra ra ra, dekho holi aaye re? that he used to enjoy during his childhood days.

  • Leslie Lewis jams with Indian Idol contestants on Roobaroo tomorrow at 9 pm

Submitted by ITV Production on Aug 29

MUMBAI: Roobaroo is a lot of fun. The contestants have fun, Mini Mathur has fun at their expense and some guests go that extra mile to add to the fun quotient like Riteish Deshmukh, Ganesh Hegde and this time its music composer Leslie Lewis.. With only the top four contestants left in the fray, their frazzled nerves must have relaxed with all the music, dance and laughter all around.

Leslie Lewis of Colonial Cousins fame was pleasantly surprised to see the diverse talent of these the youngsters Emon Chatterjee, Amit Pal, Prashant Tamang and Ankita Mishra. Each one demonstrated a little known talent about them. So for the first time one saw Prashant play the guitar while singing a Nepali song. Amit strummed the guitar like a pro as he sang Chand mera dil? Emon played the piano and who can stop Ankita from dancing when the music is on? It was hilarious to see her traipsing with Prashant as she sang Pyar hua iqraar hua. Leslie made some pertinent observations about each of them and offered very useful tips for their future plans. With advice over, Leslie suggested that they all get together and have a music session and it all ended up with a rocking jam session with Mini joining in and shaking a leg too. Leslie was convinced that this Indian Idol team could get together to make a perfect band like Boney M. since they had singers, dancers and musicians all within the group! These enthusiastic youngsters might just take up the idea?

There was more excitement in store. The most popular guy just eliminated made a comeback ? on Roobaroo. Meiyang Chang was the surprise guest much to the delight of all around. Although Chang would much rather have been sitting with his buddies, he spoke like only Chang can -- frank and without malice, straight from the heart and in shuddh Hindi. He said Emon was his first choice for Indian Idol with Amit running a close second on the basis of pure talent. He also sang his favourite song Mahive teri yaad aati hai re?which will now always be remembered as Chang‘s song. And Chang will be remembered and missed for a long, long time.

Do not miss Roobaroo on Thursday 30th August at 9.00 pm only on Sony Entertainment Television.

  • CNN'S 'Growing up Diana' reveals lesser-known years of princess of wales

Submitted by ITV Production on Aug 28

MUMBAI: Through the words of people who knew her first hand, some of whom have never spoken previously, CNN‘s Soledad O‘Brien reports on the early years of the Princess of Wales in GROWING UP DIANA.

This hour-long documentary, premiering on the 10th anniversary of her death, begins with her years growing up in the shadow of royalty and ends as her marriage to Prince Charles approached troubled times.

O‘Brien takes viewers on location to explore Diana‘s childhood home, the place where she met Prince Charles, and the roots of her insecurities.

The documentary features exclusive interviews including one with Inga Crane, Diana‘s childhood au pair, and a 2001 CNN interview with Diana‘s brother, Lord Charles Spencer. It also includes rare interviews with Robert Spencer, Diana‘s cousin; Mary Clarke, Diana‘s childhood nanny; Penny Walker, Diana‘s former music teacher; James Colthurst, Diana‘s close friend and confidante; and Mary Robertson, an American expatriate for whom Diana worked as a nanny. Robertson gives CNN viewers a first-ever look at Diana‘s personal correspondence to her, revealing personal stories of a very public woman.

Despite being born into a family of extraordinary privilege, the young Diana Spencer did not have the happiest of childhoods. The documentary reveals that early feelings of inadequacy and need for approval may have instilled emotional insecurities that followed Diana into her adult life.

Her parents‘ bitter divorce and custody battle left psychological wounds. Mary Clarke recalls a young Diana making a precocious declaration about divorce during their first meeting: "She said, ‘I will never marry unless I‘m really in love, because if you‘re not in love, you‘re going to get divorced, and I never intend to get divorced.‘"

Penny Walker, who taught Diana at West Heath School for Girls, describes her as distracted by her family troubles, which grew even more complicated when her father began dating and later suffered a stroke. Walker said Diana seemed to find solace in music, swimming and, notably, volunteer service. Walker also remembered that at age 13, Diana had an intense crush on Prince Charles, instead of the usual pop stars her friends idolized.

The documentary follows Diana through her courtship with Prince Charles, noting that they first met when she was just 16 years old and began dating in secret when she was 18 and Charles was 31. Despite being hounded by reporters when news broke of their relationship, Diana was careful to stay silent until the engagement was announced.

O‘Brien takes viewers behind the scenes of the most watched wedding of all time - more than 750 million people worldwide tuned in - with insiders at Diana‘s side including one of her bridesmaids, her wedding gown designer and a close friend who says Diana almost cancelled the wedding at the last minute.

Although the marriage was ultimately ill-fated, her friends recall Diana as a warm, loving woman who adored her children, invested time and compassion into causes such as land mines and HIV/AIDS, and ultimately changed the face of the modern monarchy. Essential to that legacy are her two sons, William and Harry, who have followed in her philanthropic footsteps and recently gave a benefit concert in support of her favourite charities.

Mc2, derived from Einstein‘s energy equation, has a new logo too. It reflects the energetic, bold and young crop of talent it has on board. Painted in New York Taxi colours, black on yellow, the agency picked a logo that would make them happy to be working there everyday.

Apart from the bright and cheerful colours, the logo has pac man on it, to show just how much fun they intend on having.features a new logo against a yellow backdrop.

To improve the agency‘s creative stock, there‘s a new team that is being put into place. The ‘new‘ agency will deliver ‘as of this moment‘ advertising solutions for clients - from those with deep pockets to the thrifty, we will deliver solution ranging from ad films to guerilla.
