Submitted by ITV Production on Jun 13

MUMBAI: This Friday night, Star Movies presents a heart-warming story of love from the coldest place on earth. The film narrated by Amitabh Bachchan, captures the incredible journey of the Emperor Penguins as they march under the most impossible conditions to find their mates. Braving icy winds, freezing temperatures and starvation through a journey that pans hundreds of miles across a frozen continent the film is a striking story of survival. Tune in to the exclusive premiere of the Oscar winning film, Penguins- A Love Story this Friday night, June 15th at 9 p.m. only on Star Movies.

    Awards

Oscar for Best Documentary, Features - 2006
Cesar for Best Sound - 2006
Nominated for Cesar for Best Editing, Best First Work, Best Music Written for a Film - 2006
Nominated for the BAFTA Film Award for Best Cinematography, Best Editing - 2006

Every winter an incredible love story plays out in the coldest, darkest, windiest continent on the earth. The Emperor Penguins emerge from the sea and walk, in a single file, to their breeding ground, which is 70 miles away and mate. The female delivers one large egg, which the male then gathers into the folds of his abdomen and holds. He stands for two months without food and water in howling gales and temperatures which dip to 50 below zero while the female trudges back to the sea. She then returns and incredibly enough, finds her mate and the chick that she has never seen before. The Oscar-winning Penguins - A Love Story documents this ritual. The Indian release is narrated by Amitabh Bachchan - at one point in the English version, he actually says, ‘How this happens, I don‘t know. I‘m just Amitabh Bachchan, not a Penguin.‘

A stirring, eye-opening, and educational experience, the film gives an incredible true account of the quest to bring new life into the world. Amitabh Bachchan‘s dignified voice gives the penguins the grave admiration they deserve. But even more incredible is the photography, which shows the penguins hunting underwater, sliding on the ice, and even what definitely looks like kissing. At one point the camera even zooms inside the mouth of a penguin as it regurgitates food for its young.

So make sure you tune-in to the exclusive premiere of "Penguins- A Love Story" this Friday, June 15th at 9 p.m. on Star Movies.

Submitted by ITV Production on Jun 11

MUMBAI: Less than 24 hours after having started big story programming on the damage to the Atlantis Space Shuttle, TIMES NOW says that it has got an unprecedented viewer feedback from across the country to its reportage.

TIMES NOW started the special coverage late last night, when news came in that there was damage to the thermal blanket around the shuttle that is to bring Sunita Williams back after a six month sojourn in space. Though NASA is working towards repairing the shuttle soon, there has been great concern about the possible danger to the shuttle during its return to Earth.

Commenting on the viewer response to the story, Arnab Goswami, Editor-in-chief, TIMES NOW said, "We have already got more than a thousand messages in a few hours since we opened our lines and asked our viewers to send Sunita their best wishes. It only shows that our viewers look at Sunita as one of their own, someone they take pride in and inspiration from."

The channel has already spoken to Sunita Williams parents in the United States and relatives in India, and has been reporting live from New York and the NASA headquarters in Houston, as it builds up to a special show on Sunday before the re-entry of Atlantis into the Earth‘s atmosphere. Interestingly, no other English news channel has covered the story in such detail, so TIMES NOW is clearly enhancing its competitive advantage with the "Come Back, Sunita" campaign.
