MUMBAI: Australian entertainment company Hoodlum has signed a deal with management and production company 3 Arts Entertainment to develop original television and multi-platform content for the global marketplace.
With this agreement, 3 Arts Entertainment will seek new multi-platform opportunities for Hoodlum with initial focus on the US networks and cable companies.
Based in Brisbane Australia, Hoodlum?s credits include multiplatform campaigns for ABC?s ?Lost?, ?Flash Forward? as well as a recent immersive experience for Sony Pictures Entertainment?s film ‘Salt‘. Hoodlum has just wrapped production on an original television drama series called ?Slide? for Foxtel with co-producers Playmaker Media in Australia.
?Slide? is a funny and fearlessly frank series following the exploits of five teenagers as they smash their way into adulthood. The series is devised as a multiplatform online/television drama featuring social media and an online experience.
The show will air on Fox8 in Australia later this year and will be distributed in the US by Fremantle Media.
Hoodlum co-founder and CEO Tracey Robertson said, ?Hoodlum has established a strong track record as television producers of multi-platform content and we are excited to now be working with 3 Arts Entertainment to further our reach globally. This new partnership gives us leverage on our global expansion strategy and will lead Hoodlum into our next phases of business growth. We look forward to working with Carrie and the 3 Arts team.?
3 Arts Entertainment head of global management and packaging Carrie Stein said, ?When Hoodlum pitched me their new multiplatform series I was blown away. It is on a whole other level in terms of entertainment value and the multiple platforms a viewer could tap into to watch the show and engage with the characters. For the first time I understood that multi-platform programming for a television series shouldn?t be an after-thought, but rather an integral part of the initial development process. The work Hoodlum has done on shows like ?Lost,? ?Primeval,??Spooks? and others is groundbreaking and I?m thrilled to be working with them to expand their slate of multiplatform productions.?
Hoodlum was formed by entrepreneurs and entertainment industry pioneers Tracey Robertson and Nathan Mayfield in 1999. Both multiple award winners in documentary, television and multiplatform storytelling, Robertson and Mayfield initially gained notoriety in 2003 for their multiplatform drama series ?Fat Cow Motel? for ABC in Australia. Since the company?s launch, Hoodlum has built a portfolio of multiplatform campaigns for broadcast networks in Hollywood, The UK and Australia.
