• Zoom's new offering 'Bollywood Storytellers' starts 24 Sept

    MUMBAI: Bollywood news and entertainment channel Zoom is launching a new show titled ‘Bollywood Storytellers‘ on 24 September. The show will air every Monday at 8 pm.

    ‘Bollywood Storytellers‘ will showcase the industry‘s "hot-shot" gen-next filmmakers who have set new rules of Bollywood storytelling, the channel said.

    Featuring filmmakers like Rohit Shetty, Imtiaz Ali, Farhan Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap, the show takes a peek into the directors‘ motifs, signature styles, trials and moments of glory.

    ET Now, Times Now and Zoom CEO Avinash Kaul said, "Youth is the biggest audience segment for Bollywood and, much like Zoom, these young directors have got their finger on the pulse of the youth. Bollywood Storytellers will give our audience an intimate understanding of what makes these stellar filmmakers tick. Their stories are not just interesting but also inspirational for our young viewers."

    From Imtiaz Ali‘s new age romances to Rohit Shetty‘s action-comedies, from Farah Khan‘s revamp of the quintessential masala Bollywood films to Dibakar Banerjee‘s edgy storytelling, Zoom will give Bollywood enthusiasts a chance to learn all about these filmmakers.

  • ET Now & Zoom CEO Avinash Kaul gets to handle Times Now

    MUMBAI: Times Television Network (TTN) is assigning additional responsibilities to Zoom and ET Now CEO Avinash Kaul.

    Kaul will now also be responsible for English news channel Times Now, sources said.

    In December 2011 TTN had elevated Kaul, who was CEO of Zoom, by giving him additional responsibilities of the network?s English business news channel ET Now. It had also named Movies Now CEO Ajay Trigunayat as the CEO of Hollywood Channels.

  • Ayesha Surty joins Times TV Network as Head of syndication and digital revenues

    MUMBAI: Times Television Network has appointed Ayesha Surty as Head, syndication and digital revenues.

    Surty will be based out of Mumbai and will focus on building relationships and maximising revenue opportunities with content and brand presence across platforms. She will report to Zoom and ET Now CEO Avinash Kaul.

    Kaul said, ?Times Television Network has a significant presence across digital platforms and content syndication. Content of the network channels is deployed across all major digital platforms and to various national and international broadcasters. Ayesha?s joining the network will take business to the next level ensuring that our rich content is made accessible to as many people across the globe through all possible platforms.?

    Surty added, ?Times Television Network with leadership brands of Times Now, ET Now, Movies Now and Zoom has incredible content which can be very effectively channelized to bring in revenue through varied tie-ups and associations.?

    Surty comes with over 12 years of experience. Her last assignment was with Imagine TV as the associate director ? content sales and digital media.

  • Times TV Network elevates Kaul and Trigunayat

    MUMBAI: Times Television Network has announced elevation in responsibilities of two of its senior personnel: Avinash Kaul and Ajay Trigunayat.

    While Kaul, who was CEO of Zoom, has been given additional responsibility of ET Now as well, Trigunayat has been named CEO Hollywood Channels.

    Both Kaul and Trigunayat will continue to report to Times Television network MD and CEO Sunil Lulla.

    Lulla said, "2011 has been a significant year of growth for Times Television Network. As the channels consolidate positions, it offers opportunities for talent to develop. Avinash Kaul and Ajay Trigunayat will both bring new ideas, energy and passion for TTN?s ambitious growth agenda. We wish them great success."

    The company said that during 2011, its revenue has grown by over 50 per cent, while reach has spread to 26 countries besides India.

    Kaul said, "Bollywood and Stocks are deep passions of India. I am delighted to have a blend of entertainment and information as part of my mandate. I look forward to ensuring that ET Now continues to consolidate its leadership as India?s premier stock market channel."

    Trigunayat added, "Movies Now has just about completed one year of stellar performance and I am looking forward to consolidating and growing the franchise of Hollywood entertainment for Times Television Network."

    Kaul has worked with Fulcrum (Group M), Discovery Communications, Star, NDTV Media and Sahara One in strategic and management roles prior to joining Zoom last year.

    Trigunayat was earlier Channel Head of Movies Now. Prior to joining Times Television Network, he has been in the Middle East in an entrepreneurial capacity; the Business Head of the Zee English Channels bouquet; has built brands and strategies for Lintas, Contract and Rediffusion and was in Sales with Pepsi.

  • Zoom launches hunt for bold & beautiful anchor

    MUMBAI: Zoom has partnered with Safi to launch Safi Presents Zoom Anchor Hunt 2011.

    The nationwide hunt is for a girl who has the look and oomph coupled with great personality, confidence and attitude poised to be the newest face on Zoom, the channel said. For the pan-India contest, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chandigarh and Pune would play host to the regional auditions.

    Zoom CEO Avinash Kaul said, "Zoom is the true face of Bollywood bringing the latest news, gossip, entertainment shows, features and interviews to viewers across the world. The Safi Presents Zoom Anchor Hunt 2011 will help us find hidden talent from across India, confident and glamorous, who will help bring Bollywood closer to the viewers."

    The winner of the anchor hunt will win an exclusive one-year contract with the channel, apart from becoming the Face of the Safi campaign for the next season.

    "Zoom anchor hunt property fits very well with the brand promise. After all an anchor on TV has to look confident, speak confidence. And be confident," said Hamdard Safi GM marketing Tarundeep Singh Rana.

    The channel has also roped in Radio City as the official radio partner for the show. In addition to being the exclusive radio partners, the FM brand will also extend domain expertise to the show.

    "Radio City?s popular RJ Salil will dispense voice modulation lessons to the finalists of the show. It is such initiatives that reinforce our belief in forging deep-rooted and meaningful partnerships that result in greater synergies for both partners," said Radio City CEO Apurva Purohit.

    The contest is open to girls who are 18-25 years of age. There are three phases to the event and contestants have to register online.
