    BANGALORE: ?This is just the 1.0 version of the Karnataka Government?s AVGC (animation, visual effects, gaming and comics) policy. We can expect 1.2 and 2.0 and 3.0 and more versions to evolve over time based on the inputs from the industry,? said the Government of Karnataka?s Principal Secretary Department of IT, BT, S&T and e- Governance, during his special address at the AVGC Investor Summit organised by ABAI and Department of IT,BT, S & T and e- Governance at Bangalore.

    Vidyashankar said that Government of Karnataka would do everything it possibly could for the ?Made in Bangalore? tag for the products and services by AVGC industry. To that extent, he added that the Karnataka Government would try and develop an ecosystem as is seen in countries like Thailand and South Korea.

    Vidyashankar also announced the setting up of an innovation cluster in Yelahanka where the total investment would be to the tune of Rs 1.2 to 1.3 billion. The Government wanted to make Bangalore an innovation hub and for this endeavor the required land had been identified at Yelahanka, a suburb near the outskirts of Bangalore. Vidyashankar indicated a timeline for completion of the innovation center as the end of next year.

    Vidyashankar also stated that the biggest Aerospace park was going to be established near Bangalore Airport with investments of $14 to 15 billion. The Karnataka government was planning an exhaustive document about where the city of Bangalore stands vis-a-vis the rest of the country in terms of growth and investments.

  • HBO's Hollywood Premier league returns on 16 April

    MUMBAI: English movie channel HBO will launch the fourth season of ?Hollywood Premiere League (HPL)on 16 April. The films will be aired 11:15 pm onwards every night.

    The two-month long festival will offer blockbusters soon after the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches get over.

    HPL will showcase films like ?Clash Of The Titans?, ?Speedy Singhs?, ?No Strings Attached? and ?Jonah Hex?. The initiative will also have interactivity both on-air and online. On-air, HBO has introduced the HPL Master Blaster Contest, a six-week long watch-and-win, where the participants have a chance at winning a cool latest Ipad. The contest is being promoted on air and is integrated with the broadcaster?s social media community.

    In addition, the on-air properties include "HPL- Matches of the week"- a ready menu of the matches of the week for viewers and "HPL Memories" - capturing the most memorable moments from HPL movies.

    Further, HBO?s social community which is heading to 750,000 users at present, is actively working on a deeper social media engagement. HPL was announced in the social media domain beginning of the month highlighting the on-air promotions ahead of its fourth edition roll-out. The Facebook users will be able to create their own HPL Dream-Team through a user integrated application.

    Along the with Dream-Team application, fans can create their own cheerleaders to support the Dream ?Team. Additionally, the user has options to, ?brush up your cricket lingos? and ?tweet the name of your favourite movie.

    HPL will see large scale promotions on various English TV channels, a well-placed outdoor campaign and radio promotions in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore in addition to multi-faceted social media and digital plan.

  • HI gets sports ministry approval to conduct camps

    MUMBAI: The tension between sports ministry and Hockey India was resolved Monday following the former?s clearance of preparatory camp for the 2012 London Olympics to be held at Sports Authority of India centre in Bangalore starting Tuesday.

    ?The camp will begin in Bangalore tomorrow. We have also got approval on LTDP from the Sports Ministry,? Batra told reporters after a Steering Committee meeting of the Ministry.

    The ministry, which also approved hockey?s Long Term Development Programme (LTDP) till Olympics, said that it was HI which had changed the dates of the camp in order to scuttle the World Series Hockey, an IHF initiative.

    Batra refused to answer questions on the fate of players who are playing in the unsanctioned league.

    ?I don?t want to say anything on that. Let the camp begin tomorrow and see who are the players who report to the camp,? he said.

    Batra also revealed that HI has got in-principal approval for the India-Pakistan series. ?In principle we have got the permission, but we are yet to get permission from the Home and External Affairs ministry,? he said.
