  • IPL players auction to be broadcast live on Six and Six HD

    MUMBAI: Multi Screen Media (MSM), the broadcast rights holders for IPL in South Asia, will telecast the IPL players auction live on Six SD and Six HD on 3 February.

    Unlike last year, the IPL players auction will not be shown on Max. MSM will, however, telecast the IPL matches on both its channels, Max and Six.
     
    The IPL player auction will be held in Chennai at the ITC Grand Chola. The action will commence at 10.45 am and will be conducted by Richard Madley, a professional auctioneer from England who has conducted each of the previous player auctions.

    The auction will be hosted by Karishma Kotak which will also have cricketing expert Harsha Bhogle sharing expertise on player and team strategies.
     
    IPL auction will see international players like Michael Clarke, Ricky Ponting, Upul Tharanga, Jesse Ryder, Ajantha Mendis, Jerome Taylor and Kevin O?Brien to name a few. The league will also feature a thrust of Indian talent like R P Singh and Wasim Jaffer, getting an opportunity to play for the most coveted tournament.

    MUMBAI: Multi Screen Media (MSM) has decided to simulcast the season 6 of Indian Premier League (IPL) on its Hindi movie channel Max as well as its sports channel Six.

    The IPL will be available on a High Definition (HD) feed in English and a SD feed in Hindi on Six and a Standard Definition (SD) feed on Max.

    MSM COO N P Singh said, "With the simulcast of the Indian Premier League 2013 on Max and Six, we aim to reach out to millions of more viewers spanning the nation. Through this, we hope to take the popularity of IPL 2013 to the next level."

    Six, which has been positioned as a sports entertainment channel, was launched on 7 April last year during the IPL.

    MSM expects the distribution of Six to strengthen with the telecast of the IPL on the sports channel. Six has yet to fully settle down on distribution networks.

    Six had recently signed two new deals to strengthen its presence on direct-to-home (DTH) platforms. The channel is now available on Tata Sky, Airtel digital TV, Videocon d2h and Dish TV.

    Gaurav Seth, who recently moved to Sony Entertainment Television as marketing head, will continue to handle the marketing of IPL to maintain continuity. He was handling the marketing of IPL as marketing head of Max.

    The IPL will be held from 3 April to 26 May involving nine teams and 76 matches. It will have a new title sponsor in PepsiCo and a new IPL team in SunRisers, the Hyderabad IPL team.

    MUMBAI: Nathalie Lubensky has been named senior vice president marketing, networks for Sony Pictures Television (SPT). She will replace Tom Keeter who will get an expanded role as senior vice president marketing, international distribution and international production.

    In this role, Lubensky will manage the global marketing and branding initiatives for SPT?s networks portfolio that spans 159 countries and reaches more than 800 million homes. In India, SPT owns and runs a full-fledged network through its subsidiary Multi Screen Media (MSM).

    Her responsibilities include building local, relevant brands; expanding and pursuing new networks marketing opportunities as well as supporting advertiser sales for existing networks brands such as AXN, SET, Animax, SPIN, ONE and MAX and their brand extensions.

    Keeter, who served as senior vice president marketing EMEA since 2007, now has an expanded role that includes oversight of all marketing efforts that support SPT?s international distribution and international production businesses outside the US, and for the US Hispanic market.

    "Nathalie?s invaluable experience will allow her to identify and capitalize on market opportunities," SPT executive vice president & chief marketing officer Sheraton Kalouria. "While Tom?s marketing expertise will benefit SPT?s distribution and production businesses on a broader scale."

    Most recently, Lubensky served as senior vice president, affiliate marketing for media networks across Disney and ESPN where she led brand management, communications, promotions, marketing renewal strategies and marketing efforts to drive and support affiliate distribution for broadcast and cable properties since 2003.

    Keeter joined SPT in 1996 as marketing director for the international television division. In 1998, he was transferred to London to oversee marketing for the EMEA region, helping launch SPT?s networks business in Europe and Africa as well as supporting its distribution and local production businesses.
