Bengali film 'Nobel Chor' to screen in London film fest

NEW DELHI: Bangla feature film ‘Nobel Chor’ (Nobel Thief) by Suman Ghosh is officially selected for screening in the 55th British Film Institute’s London Film Festival 2011.

According to producer Ashwani Sharma, the film will be screened in the World Section with two screenings in the festival beginning 12 October and ending on 27 October. This will mark the European premiere of the film.

Superstar Mithun Chakraborty plays the main lead of Bhanu who finds the Nobel Medal of Rabindra Nath Tagore which was stolen from Shantiniketan in 2004. What happens to the Medal and Bhanu in a turn of events forms the entire story of ‘Nobel Chor’.

Another Bengali icon Soumitra Chatterjee also stars in the role of Mastermoshai in the film. Well known actors Harsh Chhaya and Rupa Ganguly also star in the film in important roles.

"The film will be first having its World Premiere in the 16th Busan International Film Festival where it will be shown in the Section ‘A Window on Asian Cinema‘ and will have three screenings from 6 to 14 October,"Ghosh said.
