Movie artistes association in Andhra for ban on other language artistes

MUMBAI: In its efforts to safeguard the interests of film artistes in Andhra Pradesh, the Movie Artistes Association (MAA) has decided to ban actors from other language film industries.

Reportedly, about 8 to 10 leading actors and actresses working in Telugu films come from either Bollywood, Kollywood or Mollywood.

The bone of contention of 600-odd Telugu artistes is that film makers are violating the permissible limit of female leads, villains and other key characters by roping in other language actors even for cameo roles.

Terming the MAA decision as high-handed, Bollywood star Sonu Sood argued that it was unfair to ban actors, since many actors from the South are working in Bollywood and vice versa.
