MUMBAI: Anand Patwardhan‘s 198-minute documentary, Jai Bhim Comrade, has won the Firebird award in Documentary Competition at 36th Hong Kong international Film Festival.
Shot over 14 years, this documentary follows the tradition of activism and music of Dalits in India.
The Jury prize in documentary competition was annexed by director Petr Lom‘s Back to the Square (Norway/Canada). This documentary follows 5 Egyptians to see how their lives changed six months after the Tahrir Square Revolution in Egypt.
The 36th Hong Kong International Film Festival concluded on 5 April.
