MUMBAI: The first Screenwriters‘ Lab by the American Sundance Institute, promoted by actor Robert Redford, is to be held in Mumbai in March next year.

The Institute has tied up with Mahindra Group‘s Mumbai Mantra Media Limited. The Lab will be entirely modelled on the Sundance Lab, which is held in Park City, Utah, every year.

The Lab will be a five-day workshop that will give the Indian screenwriters an opportunity to work intensively on their script with Creative Advisors from around the world.

 
Scripts could be in any Indian language including English. However, the application for the Lab will only be accepted in English.

The last date for open submissions is 1 July 2011. After this the screenwriters will have at least three more months to send in their complete script. Only six to eight screenwriters will be selected for this workshop.

The Lab is open to Indians, non-resident Indians or people of Indian descent.
