MUMBAI: The Toronto International Film Festival 2011 has selected
four Indian films that would be screened this year.

Among the films are Pankaj Kapur‘s directorial debut Mausam (Seasons of Love), Anurag Kashyap‘s Michael directed by Ribhu Dasgupta, Suseendran‘s Azhagarsamy‘s Horse and Vimukthi Jayasundara‘s Chatrak (Mushrooms).

Mausam, starring Shahid Kapur, Sonam Kapoor and Anupam Kher, is a love story of an Air Force officer and an innocent Kashmiri refugee.
 
Ribhu Dasgupta‘s Hindi psychological drama Michael, starring Naseeruddin Shah in the lead, is the story of a senior police officer Michael played by Shah and his relationship with his son. Michael is also likely to be screened in South Asian International Film Festival in New York this November.

Suseendran‘s Azhagarsamy‘s Horse has been described on the official website of the festival as "In a lively Tamil village of the 1980s, a ceremonial statue of a horse goes missing. With a crucial holy symbol suddenly gone, the village falls into recriminations and comic chaos. Wonderful, naturalistic performances drive this brisk satire on the vanities and hypocrisies of south Indian village life."

Chatrak (Mushrooms), directed by Sri Lankan director Vimukthi Jayasundara, is about a man with a crack in his head, who lives in a forest, sleeping in trees and foraging for food. He encounters a French soldier and the two become buddies after some time.

The Toronto festival will be held from 8 to 18 September.
