MTDC to start its 10-city road-show campaign from Hyderabad

Mumbai, June 19, 2013: In a most aggressive marketing plan, to the date, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has kick started its mission to cover 10 prominent cities of India to promote tourist destinations of Maharashtra.

Starting with its first marketing campaign from Hyderabad on Saturday, Maharashtra Tourism is all set to attract the tourists from Andhra Pradesh by setting up a facility in Hyderabad to assist tourists and tour operators in Andhra Pradesh, at Tourism Bhavan, Begumpet in Hyderabad.

Shri Chhagan Bhujbal, Honorable Minister of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra, said, "Andhra Pradesh is one of the most developed States of India with a large class of educated and affluent society. Maharashtra has rich tourist destinations to satiate the needs of tourists from Andhra Pradesh. From exotic beaches to historic forts, delicious cuisine to culture and heritage, there is a lot to explore in Maharashtra." The Corporation is also ready with a Television Commercial (TVC) which will launched soon on the national televisions.

Maharashtra is always known for its rich culture, art and festivals. The State is blessed with the world famous World Heritage Sites like the caves of Ajanta-Ellora, 700km long coastline, pilgrimages like Shirdi-Saibaba, Entertainment Capital - Mumbai, Buddhist Pagoda at Gorai (Mumbai), hill stations like Mahabaleshwar-Panchgani and Matheran, wildlife sanctuaries of Tadoba-Pench and India?s wine capital-Nashik.

This will be the second office of MTDC outside Maharashtra with the first being in Delhi. Dr. Jagdish Patil, Managing Director, MTDC, said, "MTDC has been taking several progressive steps to encourage tourism in Maharashtra. Along with this new facility, we are also hosting a road-show for the tour operators to promote Maharashtra as a preferred tourist destination. It will be an interactive session with the tour operators about how best we can improve the number of tourists visiting from Andhra Pradesh to Maharashtra." Apart from Hyderabad, MTDC is planning to unveil their tourist offices in Lucknow and Tirupati in the near future.

The information pertaining to all destinations and tourist information will be available at the new office of MTDC at Tourism Plaza, Begumpet, Hyderabad. This office will become one point source of information for the tourist enthusiasts from Andhra Pradesh and tour operators.

Maharashtra has highest Foreign Tourist Arrivals and the Maharashtra Tourism is now focusing on domestic tourists too. Out of the 6.29 million foreign tourist arrivals in India in 2011, Maharashtra received the highest number with nearly 4.8 million tourists.
