Mumbai, October 07:The ATP Tour is in the Land of the Rising Sun ? Japan, and it?s the start of the Asian Swing in the ATP Tennis world. This is the longest-running ATP World Tour tennis tournament in Asia, first held in 1973. The venue is the Ariake Tennis Forest Park with it?s centre court is the Ariake Colosseum. This is an enormous tennis centre consisting of 48 tennis courts and a stadium with one of the first retractable roofs in tennis. You can watch the matches live from Tokyo on Ten Sports

This year tennis fans will be able to see some of the most exciting names in World tennis today, with the likes of Juan Martin Del Potro (ranked 5th in the world) Jo Wilfried Tsonga (ranked 7th ) and Giles Simon leading the field. The French flavour at this ATP 500 tournament is strong with Monfils joining Tsonga and Simon for the challenge. For Tsonga this will be his second visit, but for the other two, playing in this event would be a first.

Defending champion Tomas Berdych, will look to claim the title in this edition. The 2008 win was the Czech?s first ATP title on Asian soil. Ranked 16th in the world, he will face a tough challenge from the other world class players in the field.

This event marks the return of US Open champion Del Potro, to the ATP tour after winning the US Open. In 2008, Del Potro was the losing finalist, when Berdych took the title with a 6-1, 6-4 win.

World No.1 Roger Federer will sadly miss the Asian Swing, as the doctors have recommended that he take a break from what has been a hectic history-making run, this season.
