HBO lights firecrackers this Diwali with 'Van Helsing'

MUMBAI: This Diwali English movie channel HBO celebrates the adventures of a vampire hunter Van Helsing. The film airs on 25 October at 9 pm.

In the film a religious group asks the title character played by Hugh Jackman to stop Count Dracula from spreading evil across the world. To achieve his goal Dracula is trying to find Frankenstein's monster. Jackman meanwhile teams up with another vampire hunter played by Kate Beckinsale. She and her family have been cursed to roam the earth forever till Dracula is killed.

More horror comes courtesy Dawn Of The Dead on 8 October at 9 pm. Sarah Polley plays a nurse who wakes up one morning to find that the world as she knows it has changed. A plague has caused corpses to come alive. The survivors of the carnage try to fight the zombies.

Fans of Bridget Jones can check out the sequel Bridget Jones: Edge Of Reason on 1 October at 9 pm. Renee Zellwegger is back in the title role. She has found her husband Darcy played by Colin Firth. The trouble is that Bridget starts to feel jealous and insecure on account of Darcy's blonde and long legged aide. Her ex boss played by Hugh Grant re-enters her life. Meanwhile an assignment to Thailand turns into a nightmare.
