UNICEF, Celador come together for fund raising initiative

MUMBAI: Celador Productions announced a global initiative that will see various international versions of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? raising money for UNICEF. This was announced at the Rose d'Or Festival.

The international editions would each stage their own celebrity specials, some of which will feature Unicef Goodwill Ambassadors. "The idea to take Millionaire’s charity specials to a global platform was inspired by UNICEF’s relationship with the Rose d’Or. We saw that we had a golden opportunity to use Millionaire’s global presence to benefit a good cause on an international level," said Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? executive producer Colman Hutchinson.

Incidentally, Amitabh Bachchan, who anchors the desi version of the show - Kaun Banega Crorepati (Star Plus) in India, was appointed UNICEF's international Goodwill Ambassador last month.

Rose d’Or CEO Georges Luks noted, "A focus on the humanitarian role of the entertainment business is one of trademarks of the Rose d’Or. This fund raising initiative between one of the world’s most successful TV formats and UNICEF is a fantastic example of what could be achieved. The Rose d’Or offers an important platform to the most creative brains in the industry and the festival is delighted to have been the birthplace of this initiative which will help so many children."
