MUMBAI: On Your Call this week, come face-to-face with the successful investment banker, a super-woman and a trail blazer in every sense of the word Naina Lal Kidwai, the first Indian women graduate from Harvard University and HSBC India?s Country Head.
This show which gives viewers the chance to be on the anchor?s seat and ask questions to the special guests has Naina in for a pleasant surprise when she is joined by her long time friend, Director Mira Nair and Amal Ganguly, the person who gave her the first job at PWC.
She also talks about her confidence in the Indian economy, the challenges that are still to be met by the Indian banking industry and the need to go back to basics as a lesson from the financial crisis. She goes on to add that excessive pays have to be looked at carefully and should be in tandem with the rest of the staff and performance of the company.
Replying to a question from banking professional Meera Sanyal on ?why should a woman become more male in a man‘s world?, Naina says that ?it is not essential to be the one with the boys? and one can be entirely be female by creating her own identity and walking a very conscious path?.
In a freewheeling chat with Anchor Sonia Singh, she talks about her formative years, her supportive family and her passion for handloom sarees. Disclosing that her work pattern used to irritate her daughter initially, she goes on to state that she managed this situation by getting her daughter more involved in her work.
