ESS to air Videocon Cup live from 24 August

MUMBAI: ESPN Star Sports will be telecasting live the seven One Day Internationals (ODIs) of the Videocon Cup from 24 August, which is scheduled to be played in Zimbabwe.

The three teams that are playing in the series are India, New Zealand and Zimbabwe.

India will play their first match against New Zealand on 26 August. All the three teams will play against each other twice in the group league phase before the final on 6 September. The Videocon Cup will be followed by the two test match series between India and Zimbabwe.

The Indian cricket team will be looking to return to winning ways after a disappointing series in Sri Lanka. With the return of Saurav Ganguly, all eyes will be on how the Indian team will gel and perform under him.

New Zealand, on the other hand have the advantage with themselves after a thumping white wash of Zimbabwe in the recently concluded Test Series. The return of some of the key New Zealand players has been the most heartening aspect for the Kiwis. With Shane Bond, Lou Vincent and Daniel Vettori performing well, the Kiwis will be a force to reckon with.

Hosts Zimbabwe have a miserable record at home under the young captain, Tatenda Taibu. They have lost all 12 matches under him at home with the dubious distinction of being bowled out for 35 against Sri Lanka in 2004.
