MUMBAI: The Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI) brings the 11th edition of the Mumbai Film Festival (MFF) scheduled to take place from October 29th to November 5th, 2009 in Mumbai, the film capital of India. This year MFF is introducing the Film Business Centre with an aim to provide a networking platform for the Indian distributors, producers, television channels and the foreign sales agents, festival directors and producers to enhance the international sales of Indian films.

In order to celebrate the choice of the viewers, the instituted has introduced Audience Choice Award (ACA) from this year. The audience alone is the real judge of a film. The award will be called as P7 News Audience Choice Award. This year it?s a new introduction of a USD $20,000 (about Rs. 10, 00,000). Films from all sections except retrospective and tributes will compete for this award.

Speaking about this award section Mr Jyoti Narain, Director, P 7 News Channel, said, ?We are always keen to provide what exactly our viewers want and by Audience Choice Awards we want audience to decide whom they feel eligible for the best award. Come October Mumbai city will be a kaleidoscope of world cinema at Mumbai Film Festival?.

More than one lakh voting cards is available across three Festival Venues: Fun Cinema, Andheri, Metro Big Cinema, Church Gate and Big Cinema, Ghatkopar. Around 25 short films will be selected from all over the world and audience can vote online also on the website http://www.mumbaifilmfest.com/index.php. Winner will get this Audience Choice Award.

The Mumbai Film Festival is offering something to every film buff, the Festival is divided into five sections viz. International Competition for the First Feature Films of Directors, World Cinema, Indian Showcase, Dimensions Mumbai and Retrospectives. Film Business Centre of the Mumbai Film Festival is a beginning to provide networking facilities for the Indian buyers, distributors, producers, television channels and the foreign sales agents, directors and producers.
