Mipcom 2004 numbers rise

Mipcom

CANNES: It's all happening at Mipcom in Cannes. On all fronts. Reed Midem television director Paul Johnson announced a short while ago that the world's biggest audiovisual content market place is doing very well thank you. Exhibiting companies are up, as is participation from buyers, the number of countries, and participating companies.

Close to 3540 companies attended Mipcom this year as opposed to last year's 2735 companies. The number of exhibitors rose from 1,243 to 1,399 this year. Also the number of attending buyers rose to 3,290 (18 per cent more than last year's 2,840).

And what's more, compared to last year's 10,186 attendees, this year Mipcom has seen 10,815 attendees as of Wednesday morning and the number is expected to cross the 11,000 mark. Additionally, 95 countries participated as against last year's 90.

Johnson said that it has been a very buoyant market. And indeed it has. The market had an unprecedented attendance from Indian participants. Close to 60 Indians participants came to the market. Now it's on to MipTV which takes place in April 2005.
