MUMBAI: Arabian satellite news channel Al-Jazeera, which is to officially announce its plans for entering India tomorrow, has reportedly selected as its Indian news channel partner the newest kid on the block India TV.
However, when contacted for an official response to the reported developments, India TV promoter Rajat Sharma refused comment.
The deal, according to what Industry sources tell indiantelevision.com, is that Al-Jazeera will provide its news capsules dubbed in Hindi for airing on India TV.
The Qatar-based channel came into the limelight through its coverage of the first two wars in Afghanistan and Iraq which offered an Arab perspective on the conflicts and broke the virtual monopoly Western news media had uptil that time over reportage from the region.
