CBS in talks with Google for video search

MUMBAI: US broadcaster CBS is in discussions with the world's most valuable media company Google for video search and on-demand video.

The aim is to make television shows and archival news footage available and searchable on the Web.

Media reports indicate that in recent times US television networks have sought to leverage the reach of the net. They have started to provide entertainment clips and complete episodes on their web sites and upgrading the video and live streaming components of their news sites.

CBS believes that leveraging the net could help improve its bottomline. CBS is also believed to be in talks with other portals like Yahoo.

Earlier this year Disney had formed an alliance with Apple to provide podcasts of shows like Desperate Housewives for download on the Apple iPod.
