MUMBAI: "Sat Barachya Batmya" aired on STAR Majha, is an agricultural based program which focuses on the farmer‘s interest and guides them with better method of farming. The program was started 3 years back on 22nd June 2007 with the cause of promoting agricultural development in Maharashtra region. Within 3 years, the program has been honored with four state recognitions. The latest being "Krishi Patrakarita" from Vasantrao Naik agriculture research & rural development foundation of Mumbai. It was given at the hands of Minister for Food and Public Distribution Mr.Anil Deshmukh on Maharashtra Krishi Din/Agri Day on 1 July 2010. The earlier awards bestowed being State Govt‘s "Sheti Mitra"- 2008, PUSAD Vasantrao Naik pratishthan‘s "Krishi Vahini" -2009, "Krishi Rakshak" - 2009.

Agricultural has always been predominant occupation for India, and these awards signify a trend which gives credit to agricultural journalism which has been due since the time of Krishi Ratna (Doordarshan). What made the "Sat Barachya Batmya" worthy of such recognitions is not only the fact that it brings the agricultural methods of cultivation to the grass root farmers in their easy local language, but most significantly it is an intelligent, eye-opening insight into the various methods to increase crop productivity that can be attained through the revolutionized directions. Aired daily at 7:40 & 12:20 hours, the show credits the innovative farming practices and airs success stories of farmers. A constant update is presented to the farmers about the government initiative in farming and how local farmers can take advantage of those initiatives and convert farming from a debt ridden occupation to a profitable operation. The program operates in bringing to the farmers a roundabout of national and international happenings in the agricultural space. The program excels beyond cultivation and includes other factors affecting farmers like taking care of animals used in agriculture, export possibilities of farming products, avoiding adulteration at middlemen‘s end etc. are also a part of the program.

This program not only concentrates on farmers but also speaks to a house wife from Mumbai. The vision is of brining the farmers and the consumer together, which will benefit both the entities in getting the right price of the product and stopping adulteration. With growing interest from Metros, a special section "Majhi Bagh" is included on Sundays, which talks about gardening at home.
The program has also been the steady performer in the Maharashtra getting a Market share of 45%, where as in rest of Maharashtra (except Mumbai) this share reaches to astonishing market share of 64%. (TAM CS 15+, 7:40-8:00 am, Wk 24-Wk27).
