MUMBAI: Former Netflix executive Swati Shetty has joined Imagine Entertainment as international content executive vice president. Shetty served as international originals and acquisitions director at streaming giant Netflix.

“Swati will oversee international opportunities for global content and collaborate with our new divisions including documentaries, kids and family and marginal media as well as with film and TV,” Imagine co-chair said Michael Rosenberg as quoted in media reports. “This role furthers our growth and expansion strategy, allowing us to compete in a global marketplace,” he added.

Shetty, based in the US, was responsible for Indian content licensing. She was among the first executives for India and helped Netflix to increase its Indian content library and acquire original films with hits like Love Per Square Feet, Lust Stories and Rajma Chawal. Her experience spans two decades. She also worked with Star India, Walt Disney and Balaji Telefilms.
