TRP scam: ED summons top BARC officials

BARC will fully comply with the agencies.

ED

NEW DELHI: In another major development in the much-talked-about alleged TRP scam, the enforcement directorate (ED) today summoned certain officials in the top rungs of the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC).

Sources confirmed the news to Indiantelevision.com, stating that BARC India is complying with the investigative agencies completely and is willing to help them with any information they require.

Recently, former BARC CEO Partho Dasgupta was named the ‘mastermind’ behind the whole TRP racket, which was brought to light in October last year by the Mumbai police. It has been alleged that Dasgupta accepted monetary kickbacks from the owners of a top news media company in exchange for rigging viewership ratings.

A few days ago, the ED brought in the CFO of

India Today Group for questioning in the money laundering case the agency is investigating in connection with the TRP manipulation case.

So far, the Mumbai police has made 15 arrests in the case, including Dasgupta, former BARC COO Romil Ramgarhia, and Republic TV CEO Vikas Khanchandani.
