JP Morgan values Twitter at $4.5 bn in stake buy talks

MUMBAI: Leading financial services firm JP Morgan is in talks to buy a minority stake in micro-blogging site Twitter.

The investment by the firm‘s $1.22 billion digital growth fund would value Twitter, a privately held company, at $4.5 billion.

JP Morgan recently established its social media investment fund to jump on the technology and social media companies that have seen exponential growth in the last few years.

Founded in 2006, Twitter has seen its valuation surge along with the popularity it has gained. Last December, the company was valued at $3.7 billion after receiving $200 million in a funding round led by venture-capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.
