Screenwriter Sachin Bhowmick passes away

MUMBAI:Veteran screenwriter Sachin Bhowmick, who gave us a number of memorable characters, has expired in Mumbai at his Pali Hill residence. He was 82.

Sachinda, as he was dearly known, started his career in 1958 when he wrote the script for Lajwanti. And then over the next five decades, he was associated with hit films like Aradhana, Brahmachari, An Evening in Paris, Love in Tokyo, Pehchan, Aan Milo Sajnaa, Saudagar, Taal, Koi... Mil Gaya, Kisna, Yuvaraaj, Krrish and Golmaal among others.

Born 17 July, Bhowmick came from Kolkata to Mumbai as a replacement to writer Premendra Mitra in a film. He worked with some of the biggest directors, including J. Om Prakash, Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Nasir Hussain and Rakesh Roshan among others.

His only directorial venture was the Rajesh Khanna-Sharmila Tagore starrer Raja Rani in 1973.
