Udaan is best film at IFFLA awards

MUMBAI: The Grand Jury of the Indian Film festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) has adjudged the Vikramaditya Motwane-directed Udaan as the ‘Best Film’ while the ‘Best Picture Audience Prize’ was annexed by the Nila Madhab Panda-directed film I Am Kalam.

I Am Kalam is filmmaker Sonia Gulati’s story of coming home to India wanting to disclose her sexual orientation and meeting other closeted and openly gay and lesbian Indians and their parents. Big in Bollywood is the story of Omi Vaidya’s launch from obscurity to the heights of Bollywood stardom through 3 Idiots, documented by his college friends.

The Eclipse of Taregna by Rakesh Chaudhary won the Best Short (Grand Jury) while Audience’s Favourite was Tubelight Ka Chaand by Shlok Sharma.

The 9th edition of the festival was held from 12-17 April at ArcLight Hollywood in Los Angeles, California.
