Gulshan Grover wins NYCFF best actor award

MUMBAI: The New York City Film Festival (NYCFF) recently awarded the best actor award to Gulshan Grover for his performance as Indian holy man Dada Bhagwan in Desperate Endeavors.

Derived from a true story, the film revolves around the misadventures of newly arrived immigrant Ram Patel to NYC in 1973. Attempting to extricate himself from a self-dug hole, Patel encounters more obstacles than he can count and ultimately finds a remedy to his numerous problems by encountering a spiritual adviser in Dada Bhagwan.

Grover plays the role of Dada Bhagwan; the man who went to America in the 70s and enlightened the lives of the Indians as well as the Americans there.

New York City Film festival CEO and Founder Roberto Rizzo has reportedly said that Grover‘s performance as the Indian holy man was so compelling and sincere that the entire jury unanimously voted for him.

Grover‘s win is being celebrated by the Guajarati community, other Indians and as well as his Americans filmmaker friends in New York. And we hear that the bad man from Bollywood is enjoying all the celebrations.

Helmed by French-Algerian director Sam Khassa, Desperate Endeavors was screened to select Hollywood celebrities, filmmakers as well as critics in New York and Manhattan.

Recently, Grover won accolades for his role in I Am Kalam.
