IFTDA chalks out plans to celebrate 100 years of Indian Cinema

MUMBAI: Indian Cinema will be completing its 100 years in 2013. As a precursor to the centenary year celebrations, the Indian Film & Television Directors Association (IFTDA) has taken the lead in the organising events, shows, retrospectives and other activities showcasing the 100 years of Indian Cinema that would pan across the whole of next year.

IFTDA senior vice president Ashoke Pandit, who is leading the process, will envision and give direction to the entire project along with the executive committee members Goldie Behl and Vinta Nanda among others.

Avers Pandit, "This occasion presents us with a unique opportunity to mobilise the entire fraternity and create a synergy by bringing forces from all regions and languages to participate in the carnival."

At a director‘s summit recently, it was decided to get the best minds of the film industry together to deliberate upon a concrete plan for the landmark event.

While it was decided that the most senior most member of IFTDA Yash Chopra would serve as the guiding light and face of the celebration of Indian Cinema, other filmmakers like Manmohan Shetty, Randhir Kapoor, Mahesh Bhatt will steer its course and mentor the process.

This enterprise has been initiated under the aegis of IFTDA president BR Ishara and general secretary KD Shorey.

Established in 1959, IFTDA is a body of film and television directors that boasts of having some of the best talents in the business of cinema in the nation, as its members.
