Mumbai: Nike the official apparel sponsor of the Indian Football team, as a special gesture to Bhaichung Bhutia?s contribution to Indian Football has designed a commemorative badge on the Indian football jersey. The Indian National Football team will be seen sporting this special jersey for Bhaichung?s farewell match against Bayern Munich on January 10, 2012.

Nike has designed this first of a kind badge on the Indian football jersey inspired by Bhaichung Bhutia and his immense contribution to the game. The tribute badge will be on an orange base with white lettering with Bhaichung?s name and number along with ?The start of a legacy? as Bhaichung embarks upon a next phase.

?We believe that it would be a great tribute to wear the name and number of an athlete of the stature of Bhaichung in the form of a specially designed badge for his farewell match. We are extremely proud to do this for Bhaichung.? said Rakesh Masih, Nike Athlete and team member of the Indian football team.

Slated to be "Bhaichung Bhutia Farewall Match", the game between India and Bayern Munich is scheduled to take place on January 10th, 2012 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.

Nike has created a special video for Bhaichung Bhutia that can be accessed on Nike?s Football facebook page. Fur her, football fans can post their messages for Bhaichung?s on Nike?s football page. Eleven fans with the best messages will be rewarded with a special edition commemorative Bhaichung Bhutia autographed Nike jersey.

Indian football captain Bhaichung Bhutia announced his retirement from international football in August 2011. The 34-year old striker had an extraordinary career with the Indian national football team and is rated as one of the best footballers the country has ever seen.
