MUMBAI: Filmmaker Pahlaj Nihalani has finally decided to go ahead with his idea of a sequel to his 1993 blockbuster Aankhen, the idea of which he was toying with for long.

Interestingly, the filmmaker has decided to rope in Ranbir Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor in the lead roles. The original starred Govinda and Chunky Pandey.

Said Nihalani who is currently working on the script, "I have sounded off Ranbir for Aankhen 2 and I intend meeting Shahid very soon for the same. The only other thing that I can say at this point is that Aankhen 2 will be funnier than the original version."

And if that was not enough, the producer has decided to have both his lead actors play double roles. The earlier version had only Govinda in a double role.

The film is likely to go on the floors by the yearend.
