Turner launches season 3 of Galli Galli Sim Sim on 22 December

NEW DELHI: Turner International India, in collaboration with Sesame Workshop, has launched season 3 of its children‘s TV show, Galli Galli Sim Sim on Pogo, Cartoon Network and Doordarshan.

The show premieres on 22 December on Pogo at 11:30 am and will feature two new Muppets Elmo and Toto, the monkey alongwith popular old Muppets like Chamki, Boombah, Aanchoo and Googly.

Says Turner International India executive director Jiggy George, “For Turner, Galli Galli Sim Sim is much more than another children’s TV show. It is our endeavour in social responsibility, to empower the children of India through their most basic right, the right to education. Based on intensively researched content, backed by a visionary outreach programme, Galli Galli Sim Sim is India’s only pre-school show with the distinction of positively reaching and influencing the lives of over 26.6 million kids.”

In addition to Pogo, the show will be telecast on Cartoon Network at 8:30 am from Monday to Friday and on Doordarshan at 10:30 am on every Saturday.

The new positioning of the show, which is aimed at children between the age group of 3-8 years old, is "Curiosity fosters Learning – Kyonki sawaal hai bemisaal!." The show provides a strong foundation for preschoolers to help them prepare for school and life in a better manner.

The third season focuses on healthy habits, good nutrition, and literacy. Additionally, the series features an 11-minute story in each episode with the Muppet characters. The stories are complemented by foot-tapping songs and music inspired by popular Indian culture.

“India is the most populous nation of young children. Four of five of these children have no access to any kind of educational or early childhood developmental inputs. Since 2007-2008, we have reached 350,000 children through our mobile cart activity and baalwadi program; the results have been very encouraging. Our goal is to use multiple platforms to reach Galli Galli Sim Sim to children in India," says Sesame Workshop India executive director Sashwati Banerjee.

The third season of Galli Galli Sim Sim will be promoted through print, television and radio across the country. Turner India has also launched a new website galligallisimsim.com that features a host of games, videos and wallpapers for children.

The show is the Hindi language adaptation of the American children‘s television series Sesame Street.
